Odd situation...but it impacted my user experience as I almost decided to take my business elsewhere. I have made 3+ purchases from the Bike Lane over the years as I'm a local Reston resident and have had nothing but positive experiences in the past.
Will just describe the situation and know that Bike Lane is not responsible for its employees personal views, but this did happen on the shop floor while I was in the process of purchasing a bike. One of your sales associates was helping another customer pick up a bike and they were talking about your sales associates ongoing Scout recruitment activities and the associated challenges with activities being online, assumed he was a local Scout pack leader. My boys were in Scouts, so I chimed in if they had seen the recent news stories of the Inaugural Class of Female Eagle Scouts and how great that was...your sales associate looked at me snidely said to me "...I don't know about that...as I am only active with the BOY Scouts (or something close to that...but the his posture and emphasis on BOY was even noted by my son, who was with me).
I was so taken aback by the exchange that I asked my sales associate if he happened to be an owner, as if he was I would have not purchased the bike and would had left. Not sure if this information is helpful or even something can be done about it...but I feel it should be noted that if you employee people that would be so callous about such an incredible achievement by a group of brave women, girls...they should keep those comments to themselves...as it reflects poorly on Bike Lane.
The customer is treated with respect and fairly. The technicians do not flaunt their superior knowledge of all things cycling.
