We recently purchased two new Trek bikes. One of them did not shift smoothly and had to be returned for correction. Additionally, that bike had a carrier installed, on the rear, and spacers were not installed on the chain side, causing the screw to interfere with the chain. That needed to be corrected also. On the second bike, it also had a carrier installed and interfered with the seat clamp, the clamp was positioned so that you could not loosen the clamp. Owner had to use pliers to loosen the clamp. remove the seat, then turn around the clamp. Additionally, that bike also did not have the spacers installed on the carrier screw, on the chain side, and the owner had to install the spacers to eliminate interference with the chain. Finally, on that second bike, the rear light was loose and had to be tightened by the owner.
Bottom line - we like the bikes, they are our 3rd and 4th from the Punta Gorda store, but these two had the issues noted, the original two we purchased a year or so ago, and we had no issues at that time.
