Quick and courteous.
honesty in talking to their clients. they could have easily taken me for 200$ in repairs, but rather told me I'm better off buying new.
I placed an order, and received an email that it had come in. The staff member who I spoke to when I returned did not know what the item was even though I had told him the name of the item twice. He kept asking me to describe it instead, so I told him it was a case of energy bars. This did not make him go look for them though. Now if he has the name of the item, my name, and knows it is a case of energy bars that should be enough to get him to fetch my order, but instead he wanted more details about the bars. I finally suggested he just go where you store orders and look for a box with my name on it. He looked highly skeptical but was back promptly with the right box.
Your employees should know your stock, and barring that my name and the item name should have been more than enough to get him to look for my order. I felt like he was looking for me to educate him on the exact type of energy bar it was - which was slowing us down and wasn't necessary.
You guys are always so helpful. My daughter and I are new to mountain biking and to Virgina as well so it’s so nice you guys are willing to take the time to explain and show me different pieces of equipment etc without being condescending. You guys are awesome!

Very knowledgeable sales people. I was helped by Matt and Tom. Very kind and patient. Answered every question I had. The store was very busy on a Saturday morning, but the staff was all smiles and genuinely happy to help. I bought bikes in the past from big name companies, but this was the most pleasant of all experiences. I highly recommend the Reston store to anyone serious about getting a bike and being guided through the process in the most professional way possible.

Stopped by The Bike Lane in Reston for a rear derailleur adjustment. I've been doing these adjustments myself for 20+ years, but could not figure out this shifting problem. A TBL tech helped me right away, and quickly diagnosed that the problem was due to a worn and slightly too long chain. He put on a new and correctly sized chain, and now shifting is crisper than ever.
I was very impressed by the expertise and customer service of the TBL staff.

A little timelier service on delivery.
A handy "handout" of available nice-to-have add ons for bikes: saddle bags, helmets, and other cool things that are not immediately intuitive to "newbies"

I like the intimate feel of a small bike shop.
I have had mixed interactions. Some were good, but other times, your staff was overly pushy about trying to either sell me a more expensive bike than what I wanted or sell me a bike in general instead of repairing my old (but still functioning) bike. Your repair quote was also much higher than at Green Lizard

Every employee and the owner always make sure to listen- then suggest a solution or product. The service department of course is talented and quick. Of course the new measure of a great business they are following all measures of covid safe distancing.
