Friendly, understanding, knowledgeable, and professional. Down to earth staff all around. On top of all this it’s a brewing cafe! I’ve visited their store in Reston twice this week. The Bike Lane has a new customer in me.
Bought my first “real” bike here on the advice of a friend. I can’t stand anyone trying to sell me anything. These guys were the complete opposite of that. They answered all my questions and recommended the perfect bike for me without any pressure or sales tactics. The experience was so good I got my son’s bike here as well. The free tune ups are great and I highly recommend their discounted bike fitting. On top of all that, the beer is fantastic! What more could you want!?
I made an in-store order on 30 Dec 2020 and was told it should be there by 31 Dec 2021 and would receive a call when it was available for pick-up. After about 10 days since I hadn't received a phone call, I went into the store to check status of the order; it wasn't there. The individual in charge or ordering told me that he'd be able to make a better inquiry on Monday (it was the weekend) and would give me a call with a status update. About 10 more days go by and I went back to the store only to find that the order was not still not available. I requested and received a refund at this point.
If things don't go as planned in the process, recommend reaching out to your consumer to provide them updates.
Awesome customer service. Knowledgeable staff. Todd and Anne (owners) go the extra mile to ensure you know your options, even going as far as Todd letting you ride his personal bike to make sure you'll be happy with your purchase. 5 plus stars!
I like the friendly, local neighborhood bike shop ethic; they are very knowledgeable about products and service. Their business seems to go beyond just selling you a bike and some parts. They participate in the community as well: from group rides in their neighborhood, to test rides of new bikes at regional bike parks and support local train maintenance. Overall, just a great bike shop to be involved with.

Customer service was exceptional. This was my first bike purchase as an adult. Staff took a lot of time to show me a variety of bikes and features to make sure the bike I picked was the best fit and the best choice for me. Staff were also careful to ensure that I knew how to fit my helmet properly and helped make recommendations for a bike rack for my jeep. -- Tiffany
I love that when i am having a mechanical issue with my bike I have always been told to bring the bike by, and it's been fixed right then and there so I can get back to using the bike the same day. That friendly service is worth everything to me.
The service is personal and attentive, even Saturday when there were several children in the store.
Prices seem a little high, small but irritating point is lack of printed receipt at the register - some of us prefer to limit the spread of our e-mail addresses.
KEEP the friendly and knowledgeable sales and service staff.
Not certain what can be done with the COVID-related occupancy limits, but the stated 2-shopper limit is a non-trivial consideration when there are other, similar businesses within a few miles. Yes, it's probably not the store's preference (and acknowledging that I'm not the one trying to keep the business open in the midst of the pandemic), but it keeps the store as a second choice despite its convenient location.

After looking online at various bike shops and other big box stores in the area, The Bike Lane was most appealing for our purpose. We wanted reasonably priced bikes for our fast growing, long-legged grandkids, who spend summers with us. Trek bikes appeared to fit our needs. The Bike Lane website seemed to have a decent variety of Trek bikes within our price range. After doing some comparisons and taking into account the after-purchase services, such as life-time minor adjustments and 5% of bike cost for in-store purchases, it was time to visit the store.
The store parking was readily available, good location, nicely displayed bikes & products.
During our store visit, our sales person, MJ, educated us in determining appropriate bike sizes to accommodate growth, various colors, and models. After speaking with the kids on our cell phone in store, MJ was able to determine availability dates & style of Marlin 5. As it turned out, bikes of the preferred size, style & colors were available. MJ retrieved the bikes, we sent pictures to the kids, and everyone was pleased, to say the least. We left bikes for fine tuning in store, then retrieved our purchases yesterday. It was a good experience.
