Love the service at Helens; and have for the past 30+ years. Everyone who works there is awesome and helpful
adam set me up with my first spd pedals/shoes (i'm in my 50s). he made it painless and was my shoe salesman, technical consultant and bike pedal mechanic. PLUS, he literally grabbed me and saved me from falling over in the parking lot and avoided rolling his eyes. i rode the same day and increased all my times on my regular 50-mile ride and love clipless pedals now and it's thanks to helen's and good eggs like adam.
I love the service and everyone is very friendly. However, I miss the merchandise assortment that you had before Covid.

I drove from Mammoth to buy a bike. I arrived at opening time on MONDAY! Ugh. Not sure how I had not seen that you are closed on Monday. So I went to the Specialized store instead.... my second choice. The sales associates were terrible. I really wanted to buy a bike on Monday. They were going to order a bike in a box, reluctantly, from the warehouse for delivery on Tuesday and would call me when it was there. I never felt any love.
So on Tuesday I returned to Helen's. Johnnie approached and asked me if he could help. He then spent the next.... I don't know how long... helping me. He answered ALL my questions, sent me off on countless test rides, shared stories and listened.
Johnnie is a gem. I ended up buying a Trek Roscoe and am so grateful that he took the time to walk me through making the bike just right.

Mechanics and staff at Helen's did everything to resurrect a Shimano electronic system that was almost bricked for lack of a password.

Floor staff were kind of indifferent to customers. The guys in the service area where much better - helpful, but they needed to be asked to adjust the bike seat of my new bike and did not offer any info on the 1 year service warranty until I asked. Overall, Helen's is my favorite bike store but the customer service seems a bit lacking!
I recently purchased a FX3 and thought I had an issue with it. A gentleman from the service department looked at it, kept the bike for the remainder of the afternoon. He reported back to me as he said he would and told me the bike was in good condition after he gave it the once over
