My kids lean a lot from sylvan, his comprehendsion much better now. Staff very nice and respectful.
Not everything works for everyone. Sylvan method (very generic) didn't work for my child.
I like the flexibility to change the schedule weekly, and the breadth of knowledge of the Sylvan teachers or tutors who can even accommodate a variety of high school subjects such as astronomy and calculus. My kids began going to Sylvan late in in their school careera, my daughter as a 6th grader (albeit she had had RSP support in her public school) and my son, a Junior at Balboa who faced a long term suspension from high school. My son was able to keep up a respectable GPS when he faced a long term 2 month suspension his Junior year of high school. I am very pleased my daughter now a Freshman at Sacred Heart; she has just completed her 2nd year of attending Sylvan 2 hours week. Her math score on the state public school testing went up 100 points this year. She also took the Catholic high school test prep class which proved successful for her as far as we were concerned as she got into Sacred Heart.
I really like the way the programs are customized and tailored for each child and based in their learning needs. I have noticed improvements in my children's homework and test taking skills.

My daughter has enjoyed working with the teachers. I appreciate how they take feedback and try to match a suitable teacher for my daughter. She dreaded going in the beginning but now feels confident and likes working with her teacher.

Still have not shown any improvement with my child after so many session hours already done. Would like to see more increase in either .5 or 1 grade level after accomplishing half of the required hours.
This Sylvan works with my son, in a way that he feels comfortable, and he looks forward to his next lesson.

Nothing is wrong. It is just VERY expensive to attend Sylvan. Just for a few months of sessions will equal my daughter's private school tuition for the whole school year
Do exactly as you promise when we interview. My daughter was to have full control of what she needed. Either homework support or Sylvan learning. I found out after a couple of times that they kept testing her as part of the Sylvan learning and barely had any time left for homework support. It completes defeated why we were there. She wasn't there to struggle through your tests, it was for her to get her confidence back with math. I called and changed her to homework support only and yet she would still go in and they would tell her she needed to take the tests first even after she spoke up about homework support only. You took our money and did nothing to support her. She ended up feeling worse than when she started.
My family lives in Beijing, China. If Sylvan has an office in Beijing that teaches/tutors with the same degree of professionalism, that would be fantastic.
This is not a suggestion, more of a thought on what would make Sylvan even better for my personal situation.
I like your staff are not only working closely with parents and student, but also keep a close communication with school teachers to ensure his improvement.

It's too early to tell if the tutoring is helping Sebastian. He has only been doing it for 8 weeks.
