It’s been a good and helpful tutoring experience for my daughter.
My son has thrived there and is really improving on his SAT prep. His second practice test he improved his score by over 100 point. That is a testament to the teachers ability to teach.
I have been very very happy with Sylvan of West Portal. They have been responsive, they have been reliable and best of all they are effective tutors.
My boy has improved his ACT score since going to Sylvan. Sylvan, unlike other tutors I had been to, is very feedback-based and methodical and their approach gets results.
Also unlike other tutoring companies, Sylvan has the in-person option which was super important for my boy's style of learning. They also have an online option too.
I would highly recommend Sylvan.

My son loves his tutor. The staffs there are very nice and helpful.
Our daughter has gotten help with the HSPT and definitely seems much more confident. We are going to continue with them for writing and math help throughout the rest of the school year. They have also been very flexible with our schedule and are great at communicating.
Kecia was not good and she had 5 star reviews from a few hundred people. Tristan is much better. I would give her 2 stars.
All the staff have been wonderful, organized and professional. Most importantly, my son has improved tremendously with Sylvan and I am so happy to have found it!
My 2nd grader has taken 11 classes so far. What differentiates Sylvan from other programs is they customize the learning program for the student and focus more on ensuring the student understands the concept vs. just providing worksheets. I believe the program is a good supplement for my daughter by reinforcing her reading foundation and building her confidence. She looks forward to going each time and hopes to solve all the riddles on the side!
Your fee structure inhibits many at risk youth from being able to participate. We have seen a big improvement with our son's math scores. Everyone is so nice and professional.
The tutors and the staff really personalize the experience for every child. I can see the improvement in my child and their confidence building.
They tried to scam me out of my money
So far the experience has been very positive -- the communication about scheduling is very responsive, the discussion about our child's initial assessment was very thorough, and the reports from our child have been good about the tutoring experience.
(Since we are early in our time with Sylvan, I'm waiting a little longer until I give a perfect score! )

Instructors are engaging
They response very fast and keep track with the student.
Sylvan is very responsive and works well to customize learning plans for our children.
The tutoring is very good - it helped my younger son get As and high test scores in reading and math, and now my older son really enjoys his ACT training. We have has consistently good outcomes with Sylvan.
Sylvan has helped my son (11 years old) gain confidence in math. The tutors go the extra mile to connect with him on his level, making real-life examples of the concepts he’s learning. The team goes the extra mile to tailor the program to support his learning style and compliment what he’s learning in class at school.
