Worrisome that they have a disabled/inoperable fire alarm system in the front of the store.. not a good look.
Brent was very helpful with providing preliminary information and answering questions via email i had about bike tires.
He and the repair crew were also extremely accommodating when I screwed up my appointment time and arrived a day early to have my tires installed. They managed to squeeze me in with little wait time. It was much appreciated.
So I rate the service excellent, the prices decent, and will not hesitate to recommend Sweet Pete’s.
I had booked an appointment for a couple of tune ups and some new part instalment (a seat and security bolts) on one of the bikes. First thing I was told on the day of the tune up was that one of the bikes was too old for a tune up for reasons that were understandable, it would have been nice to know that over the booking process but it wasn't a big deal. I mentioned that my derailleur needed adjusting as well and went on my way satisfied with getting the new parts installed and the derailleur adjusted. When we came in the next day I was told 5 of my spokes were broken on the back wheel and that I should have it replaced soon, I was a little surprised to see that two of them had been taken off but again, it is an old bike and this wasn't all surprising. We left the store and as I was riding down a side street off bloor I realized my rear brakes were not working at all, I legitimately almost got into an accident. I assumed my bike would have been given back to me in working condition. We went back in and were asked multiple times if the brakes were working when we came in (they were) and this was quite frustrating. Someone took the bike to the mechanic, he came back and explained that he didnt touch the brakes and he doesn't know why they arent working. They were clearly just not tightened. I'm not sure what happened to them after maybe the wheel was taken off but it was incredibly frustrating to have left with my bike in worse shape without an explanation. I didn't want to cause a scene nor take up too much space in the shop during covid, so we just left and I used my front brakes carefully to get home. I've decided I wont be coming back again. A friend took a look at the breaks and fixed them no problem, which worsens my confidence in the shop even more. Not sure what went wrong there but I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else who comes in to your store. Thanks for the feedback form.

Took new bike in for 6 wk free minor tune. The tune did stop a problem of the chain shifting up an additional cog (sometimes even two) on a single shift. However, the adjustment is sloppy because the chain now makes noise at the back, rubbing against the next inboard cog. I heard this the moment I left the shop. It was obvious. I did not have time to return for re-adjustment. It may be that the mechanic loosened a limit screw to stop the unwanted shifting, but left it too tight so it's still out of the acceptable range. It was lightly raining that day; I wonder if the mechanic actually test rode the bike. I will refine the adjustment myself, using a Park Tool video, as I do not have time to return to the shop. I have also noticed that the front disc brake is rubbing intermittently. This too is obvious by just spinning the tire and listening. I will also try to adjust this myself. The 6 week tune-up is free, but since the scope of work is limited to a focus on gears & brakes I do think it's reasonable to expect to leave the shop without chain noise and brake rub. Every job, even if it's free, showcases quality and sets expectations. I understand that at this time mechanics are crazy busy, but they will be even busier if they have to fit in customers who return because they want tune-ups re-done. Sweet Pete's service work in my experience has been consistently good, so I take this as an exception.

I bought a bike for my oldest daughter at bike depot and they include annual bike tune ups for 5 years after purchase. When I got this recent bike at Sweet Pete’s I was disappointed to hear it only included a tune up for the first year. I understand this is a service and may be hard for a small business to offer but it seems like a huge competitive advantage. Anyway, an annual tune up for at least 2-3 years would make a huge difference! Thanks for the survey and the opportunity to share.

Although it took a while to book my bike for a tune up, once my bike was in, the service and communication was exemplary! The team talked me through options, did great repairs and paid careful attention to all of my concerns.
