Early last Saturday day I went to a bike shop in Long Beach hoping to buy a bike. Sadly I received horrible service and the guy who helped me just told me we had no bike in my size and he said that they would get some but didn't know when. Feeling rejected and discouraged I remembered that 15 years ago I had bought a bike at Helen's Cycle for the aids ride, (which has since been stolen) and I remember that there were really helpful and friendly. I then decided to make the 40 min journey north in heavy traffic to Helen's in Manhattan Beach. Before I left I made a call. On the other end of the line was a friendly voice who checked the inventory and ensured that he had a selection of Hybrid Bikes in my size. Once I arrived I was greeted with smile by a friendly sale person who should me the bikes, told me all about the features and encouraged me to take them out for a spin. Needless to say, I left Helen's that day with an awesome bike and a renewed belief that good customer service still exists. Helen's Cycles have me business for life.

I bought my bike, a used Cannondale Quick 4, the day after the riots, it was the last bike in the store. And I started going on 50 mile rides every Saturday from Beverly Hills to Manhattan Beach (and beyond). Last Friday, picked up a glass shard and a flat. Milton did a tune up and replaced my tires, back sprocket, chain, brake pads and cable and invited me back in a couple weeks to tighten the cables. Riding the beach paths means salt air and corrosion. I also got a new saddle, feels great. I've had a lot of fun on this bike...it takes me where I want to go. Thank you I Martin for being there for your customers and for your friendly and reliable service.
