The Bicycle Outfitter is the best. It's a great place to buy a bike and gear, and it's a great place to have your bike serviced. The team is friendly and knowledgeable and they have good inventory of things you need. Chris, the bike fitter, is absolutely amazing.
Walked in (after several years of 'maintaining' my trusty offroad steed) looking for a 29er (no research or real idea of what to expect). Walked out happy with the guidance for the selection and am now riding it...very happy with everything.

I spent the better part of 15 years with almost fully debilitating health issues that left me in constant physical pain. I crawled up stairs because I couldn't walk up them, turning doorknobs was even painful so riding a bike was never on my radar. I haven't been on a bike since I was a young teenager, 30+ years. My son hadn't been on a bike since training wheels. We walked into Trek Fort Wayne and I was instantly intimidated looking around, questioning my own sanity in thinking I could try riding a bike again. Caitlyn approached us and we chatted about what we were looking for and trying to understand etc. She was so incredibly helpful, kind & patient with us, answered what must have felt like a million questions. I was put instantly at ease. I spent the next week debating on the bike and went back on 5/25 and this time Caitlyn was busy with other customers and I was helped by Roy. He was so knowledgeable and patient as well. He set me up with a test ride, answered all of my additional questions and concerns without hesitation. Right or wrong, as a very large woman who hasn't been able to be consistently active in a very long time, I feel unsure, insecure and sometimes outright embarrassed in spaces with a focus on healthy fitness/activities because I've been mocked and criticized so many times before. I didn't experience anything like that from the staff at Trek and I left with the first bike I've owned in 30+ years. As melodramatic as this sounds, coming from where I was with my health to buying a bike again and having such a positive experience in the shop, I called my husband on the drive home and cried with joy and excitement over it all. Being on a bike again after years of being in so much physical pain has felt so freeing!!! Thank you so so much!!!
