I loved my Bontrager xxx lite road shoes that I had, so, when the bona buckle came off, I tried glues to no avail. In comes Trek.com to the rescue!!! Got a new set of shoes. While the new ones are not as nice as the old ones in my opinion. I am thinking that like good blue jeans or shoes, with time they will be just as nice as the other shoe ones. I would suggest getting rid of the elastic inside the shoe, makes putting on and taking off a two handed endeavor.
