I appreciate the good workouts I get with Brenda and Sherri in the areas of strength training and cardio. It's a solid hour of working out that I would not otherwise do.
Nearby locations with character-focus rewards and engaging camp themes and activities. Our kids have enjoyed the variety of day camp, camp e, and sports camp. The staff has been great. We have enjoyed interacting with Shelly, Ken, Spencer, Caleb, and many other counselors and staff.
The counselors care about my kids!
The facilities are in great conditions and the service is excellent.
The pool.
I love all the activities and trips that the camp offers but I do think it's a little crazy everyone is outside in this heat all day long. I feel like there should be a little bit more time inside with the AC
Outside and pool time kids get to be kids
Variety of group exercises, enthusiastic staff, offering Livestrong program.
I was very impressed with the maturity of the camp counselors at the AE Finley YMCA. They were consistently kind, polite, knowledgeable. I was confident with their abilities to care of my child.
My kids love sports camp and traditional camp. My only request would be to make the sports camp showcase later in the afternoon. My kids always want to come home after, and we lose a half day of camp. Plus it's hard to get away from work mid-day. I imagine the closer to the end it's pushed, the easier it is for folks to get out of work to watch.
Friendliness, comfortable when working out. Helpful employees.
I like that they have structured activities, fun field trips and a safe environment for kids.
The staff are amazing. My child loves it!
Friendly staff, good equipments, cleaness and more.
It's welcoming and very active outdoors. It's a great environment with excellent staff.
I thoroughly enjoyed the outside 9 am water aerobics class on Wednesday July 30. I LOVE that the water class was outside AND that it was an hour class AND that there were 60 spots. I wasn't thrilled with the distance that I had to drive to get to Finley but that is nothing Finley can control:-) I live much closer to the Kerr Y. It's been tough at Kerr because the facilities are smaller and we have had an onslaught of new members with the closing of the Rex Center. I plan to continue coming at least once a week to Finley. When Kerr goes inside for water classes, I'll definitely come to Finley (I do water classes every day) to be able to stay outside longer. Outside water classes are awesome!!!
My child has had a great time each day!
My daughter has enjoyed her years at Finley YMCA. She has found lifelong friends during the summers. She has gained responsibility and principles and morals while having fun at the same time.
It's the little things that makes Finley stand out from out from other Ys in the area - the coffee/drink lounge, the individual changes rooms with multiple chairs to sit/set items on, and the strategic placement of speakers playing not so quiet music near the bathrooms to dampen surrounding noise ;-)
My main feedback is to revamp and update the YMCA App. I run into at least 2-3 different problems every time I log in including:
- Error message if I open up the app after it's been idle for too long
- If I'm scrolling through the group fitness classes too long and/or going back & forth getting more info on classes, it will eventually pop up all activities including open swim lanes. I have to exit out of 'Find a class' and start again.
- When a popular class becomes available, there was a significant lag time between when you click on the class and sign-up. This is a big problem during the holidays when membership attendance spikes.
- In the 'find a class' section, clicking the date in the upper screen takes me to the wrong date (usually 1 day off)
Like all YMCAs the facility was clean and the workers were very friendly and helpful. What I really like about this YMCA is that you have more than one of the same exercise equipment for a few stations. Most of the YMCAs that I have attended usually just have one of each.
Love having an outdoor swim option now during the winter!
Teachers of group classes are friendly and excellent. I go to aquatics and they are the best instructors. Love outdoor pool aquatics. A suggestio is because these classes are popular, you should open one to two more lanes. This summer most times I go in to reserve my space in outdoor pool and all I can do is get on wait list. For example, today I want to be in Marianne's outdoor pool equatics and I can only get into the wait list.
Some times when I am wait listed - I get the you are in notice so close to the class that I cannot get there in time. What I suspect is happening is members sign up immediately when Portal opens to accept the enroll notice from member. At that moment the member may intend to come or least wants to lock in their space and decide later if he or she cannot come. At the last minute that person withdraws due to change of personal plans for the day. I am not sure how you fix this problem other than add more class spaces to let more members attend classes.
The people both instructors and other members
the community of friends that I have as a result of consistently attending water aerobics.
the water aerobics instructors, particularly Marianne, Julietta, and Kelly.
It has a variety of activities so I do not need to do the same thing every time I want to workout.
My son has thoroughly enjoyed the camp and different activities, songs, and friendships he has made!
I like coming, I wish you had a line dance class. I know Kara is an instructor. I took her class before, it was great and something different. Overall the instructors are well trained and they make the class fun to be part of.
Variety of classes, instructors, outdoor pool, member appreciation events
The YMCA camp is a well-oiled machine! We have been ecstatic over the past couple of years. The camper experience, affordability that helps families and the pick up/drop off experience. Only change, we have a 4 year old who can only go for a 1/2 day which makes it challenging for working parents.

We recently moved to Raleigh and my daughter didn't know anyone at day camp. But by pickup of the first day, she rattled off the names of six new friends she spent the day with! She absolutely loved her week, never complained about being hot (a big deal, since she went to a camp at the end of July), and is already ready to return.
