I love the instructors and my classmates. We have become like family. The classes are fun and beneficial.
The machines in the exercise center allow an older person to maintain arrm, core, and leg strength- even during winter. Cardio machines as well, but my preference is walking, even in the cold.
The woman’s showers are not the best. Probably not your fault but water collects in area outside showers and it’s gross to walk through.
Also, police the lap pool so people take showers before getting in the pool and also, non lap swimmers should not be allowed. They hog the lanes and you can’t split with them since they are treading water all over the place
There is not enough equipment for the planned classes. There are 2 kettle bells downstairs. When we use them most people in the class swing a dumbbell. We should have a class set in weights people use (10-20 lbs). Likewise there are 4 steps down there and they occasionally disappear because there aren't enough steps in the upstairs room. Many times 4 is not enough and people do a step routine on the floor. Likewise bosus and bands and tubes (upstairs) It is frustrating. It seems like there should be communication with instructors about equipment needs.
Classes are fun people are friendly and helpful.
Have more flexible pool time for adults only
The staff is very helpful and friendly. Always smiling.

the Y is like a second family for me.
Excellent keep up good work Everything is always clean desk very kind knowledgeable always helpful
There is a guy who usually wears black jeans and a t-shirt to the gym upstairs. He is very nice but doesn't seem dressed appropriately for the gym. He smells REALLY BAD
I like going to exercise at the gym. Nice atmosphere, friendly folks. Lots of different mechanics to work at. Weights, aerobics, swimming. Great for family's. I love there is music at this YMCA which I enjoy.
The Gym on the second floor
The personnel make you very welcome
The classes are varied and cater to everyone's needs. Tge facility is clean and maintained.
I really need a sauna for the membership to work for me. After sitting in the sauna, my workout is so much more productive! I do love the pool though so it's quite likely I'll reinstate my membership in the late spring before summer camp.
Update facilities
Promote and support group exercise classes
Nice facility, fantastic programs, great staff members
Love the senior water aerobics class
The pool hours and class times are not beneficial to patrons with full time jobs. Especially the summer pool hours when the lap pool is largely unavailable in the mornings so people with 9-5 jobs can’t swim before work.
My issue surrounds the classes and childcare. YMCA was traditionally tailored to families. Soundview seems to have moved focus to the geriatric population. Parents in their 30s and 40s are looking for classes that offer a certain level of intensity. (hiit, strength, active). This is offered at most other ymca locations at times working families would use. In contrast soundview is transitioning to yoga, meditation, and, comically, line dancing at premium time slots for mothers and fathers who work. In addition the childcare rarely lines up with class schedules. A prime example is Saturdays. Soundview offers childcare at 9-12 however the more intensive exercise classes are 8:30 and 9:30. Meaning to a parent with kids you have one class option On Saturdays. Childcare should more fittingly run 8:30 to 11:30 with an 8:45 and 9:45 class option to allow more use. It’s a huge miss to only have one option essentially for a quality workout with childcare as an option and is often filled. Ironically the 8:30 class is being transitioned to fit the elderly population anyway so it is a miss either way. I know 4 families (not exaggeration) who have considered Soundview and mentioned the classes and childcare are poorly aligned and they aren’t sure they could justify joining because of it.
Convenient location and hours
Facility is always clean

The people!
I have recommended the y to quite a few people. Teachers are great and the classes are good. Very friendly people behind the desk. Good camaraderie with my classmates too!
The staff could be more kid/family friendly.
Fitness classes
More yoga classes in the early part of the week -
another gentle yoga class taught by Erica would be great- she is wonderful.
Offer some lectures on health and wellness.
Facility is dated but goes a long way.
I have recommended the Y to new members that have join this month.

Great instructors! Clean and bright facility.
