Friendly staff.
The pool is the primary reason I joined and maintain my membership. There are occasions where access is restricted or limited due to teams, outside groups, etc. using the pool. I understand the importance of community partnerships and external programming, the reduced availability for paying members—especially alongside a fee increase—is disappointing at times.
Parents don't receive any feedback so it is unclear if child is progressing
Everything it has to offer and everyone is so welcoming
Everything. Friendly atmosphere and so many choices to exercise
The teachers this year at Bradley School in Derby CT are top notch. The best they have had in years. They are kind, engaging, fair and fun. My children talk about them like they are best friends.
very clean gym and locker room
The staff is helpfull and friendly. The facility is always clean. The pool is fantastic.
Our daughter has been enrolled in swim with the Woodruff YMCA since she was 13 months old. Now at 4.5 years old she’s a little fish! She loves the water, can swim and knows how to be safe. My 2 year old son is well on his way too! We’ve had only good experiences with instructors but Miss Kasie is the absolute best!
The Soundview family in Branford has had no hot water in the showers since the 5th of January. This is despite members' daily complaints. Following a weekend with showers closed for repair, we have been told repeatedly that the heating system has been fixed. Yet, as of yesterday, showers still run lukewarm to cold water intermittently.
We have been told by employees at the desk to go home and take a hot shower, and stop harassing Matt, the director.
This situation is unacceptable in the middle of cold months, the coldest in a long time.
Very good instructors, friendly staff, very clean
Class was only 30’minutes and it was typical that they didn’t get in the water until 15 minutes in. There wasnt enough staff. Each child was mostly just hanging on the wall the whole time and then each got 1-2 turns going to the other end of the pool with the swim instructor. Would never recommend this to friends. Perhaps the staff can come a little earlier to setup the pool so that the class isn’t starting late each day.
Very friendly , profesional
The facility is clean and the pool was a good temperature. Classes were structured with feedback.
Good, but a bit expensive..
My kids liked being together in the same group. They liked that they had free swim. They liked laser tag. They liked the free play and science experiments.
Counselors and staff are great. My son always has a great time.
The program is good, costly though, especially morning care. You should also considering offering a sibling discount.
Its Great
Upgrade the locker area and showers.
My aquatic coach Nacho is one of the most down‑to‑earth and genuinely caring teachers I’ve ever met. His passion for teaching is unmistakable, and his ability to connect with people makes every lesson feel personal, safe, and encouraging. He is approachable, patient, and truly invested in the growth of each student.
I feel honored to have crossed paths with such a wonderful human being. His guidance didn’t just help me become more comfortable in the water—he inspired me on a deeper level. He planted a seed in me, awakening the possibility of teaching aquatics myself one day. Watching the way he builds trust, confidence, and joy in his students has shown me what compassionate teaching can look like.
The environment he creates is nothing short of transformative. He helps students feel at ease in the water, meeting them exactly where they are and supporting them with kindness and skill. The relationships he builds are authentic and uplifting, and they make the learning experience truly exceptional.
I am deeply grateful for the impact he has had on my journey.
Have many friends here.
pool an locker room freezing in winter with a baby in the baby swim class
My daughter loves the YMCA after school program! Her best friends at school are Y friends. She was even disappointed to have a snow day because she didn't want to delay her plans with her YMCA friends.
Staff is friendly and make an environment my child wants to return to!
The teachers (ms. Dawn and ms. Lorna) genuinely care about the student’s wellbeing and safety. They deal compassionately with issues and offer age appropriate guidance. I am always aware of any problems to address or wins to celebrate with my highly sensitive child. I trust them implicitly and am very grateful to have them in my son’s life.
My son LOVES going to the vacation club when he is off school. It helps us keep a schedule and have him engage in safe / fun activities.
Make it less expensive for non members
Expensive!

I like the location, the facilities, the Employees are always helpful & friendly and it’s always super-clean.
