I've used The Parking Spot for years as an airline employee. There's always the challenges of waiting for shuttles, but it's not significant.

I want to call out something exceptional about a shuttle driver at The Parking Spot 1 at Dallas Love Field and I wish I had captured his name. This occurred on April 29 around 9:30 am CT if that helps narrow it down as he deserves commendation.

While we were enroute to the terminal, there were two passengers who had just exited their vehicle that the driver stopped to pick up. One was elderly in a wheelchair and was not ambulatory nor could I and another passenger safely assist her into the shuttle (we offered).

Here's what made an impact on me after almost 20 years of using this facility - the shuttle driver stepped off the bus (instead of just talking out the door) and explained that there was no wheelchair ramp.

The companion of the wheelchair passenger quickly became distressed that they were going to miss their flight and couldn't afford terminal parking. The driver calmly and compassionately explained the process to help them, to have them drive to the terminal so the wheelchair customer could exit curbside and a driver would come along and drive their vehicle back, park it, and secure the keys. When they agreed, he immediately radioed for someone to assist as quickly as possible. He did not leave them until someone acknowledged they were on their way over the radio.

Calm. Compassion. Empathy. Solution.

You can't do customer service any better than that.
