Justine was extremely knowledgable and immensely helpful in finding me a great bike with a toddler seat. They had it assembled and ready to role in less than hour so I could take my daughter to the park. Truly a family shop. - Brett from Chelsea
Have been a customer for years, the best.
A great team of people who all have good intentions in helping you feel as comfortable as possible. Always ready to help.
Great service every time, thank you
Great guys Tim & Adam. Tim fixed up my bike good and speedy. Runs like a top.
Jestine and Matt are my most favorite employees!
Always welcoming me and answering my big & little questions about bicycling!
Great experience overall! Pleasant and knowledgeable service person!
Your people are very helpful and willing to explain things. Keep it up
The prices were way too high. Additionally, I was not told of the system the store is now using, where you pay simply to have your bike assessed for what work needs to be done. I put down a deposit when I dropped my bike off to get the estimate without it being explained that if I chose not to get the work done I wouldn't get that money back. If I knew I was paying $30 just to be told about work that I already knew needed to be done, I wouldn't have agreed to it.
I am pleased with my new bike helmet, my first new helmet in a long time. Brian, (I hope I have his name right) was very helpful to me, providing me with a number of helmets to try on. When, I arrived home and told my husband about my purchase, he said he wanted a new helmet, too. So, I think he will be over to see you, soon.
Note: I was very pleased with Brian’s assistance. I am a senior citizen and a woman and bike shop staff do not always greet me warmly.
Adam Bernstein was wonderful. I'm so happy to have a reliable and friendly bike shop in the neighborhood.
High quality service and staff always goes above and beyon
You have created a very welcoming, effective space for people to learn more about bicycling, purchase new equipment, and repair the equipment they have. Every interaction I’ve had with staff has been a positive one. I’m very happy with my new bicycle, with the way it was set up, and with the help I received in fine-tuning the fit. Well done, all.
They keep me on the road. Always very accommodating and efficient.
Was very clear on what can and would be done gave an accurate price...and had my bike all tuned up in a very timely manner...the persons I delt with were very kind and helpful...
Fast break service while I waited, right before closing. Thank you, gentlemen!
Always when I step into your shop I feel nothing else but welcome and you are taking care of my needs without a rush or certain pressure!
I like that a lot.
I go to Bicycle Habitat in Prospect Heights for all my cycling needs. Eric did a great job changing my derailer, chain and cassette and gave me advice to save me money next time. The labor cost was reasonable and the service performed the same day.
service was great and professional. may only problem was the price.. which is on the expensive side.
Very helpful
Super friendly and knowledgeable service
Staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful for a complete newbie making a decision on a new bike.
Chad was great with our (nervous) year old who needed a bigger size helmet. He fit her in 2 options, we figured out her size, and then he helped show her all the colors that she could pick. She picked a super cool red/orange helmet with yellow straps, and adjusted the straps so we wouldnt have to at home! He was so kind with her!
You guys did a great job - thank you!
Man I bought my bike from RA and I wish I had bought it from you. It was impossible to get help or advice from them and your team was so, so much better. Looking forward to becoming a repeat customer of the shop. Thank you to your team for swift and professional service
It’s really high quality and the staff are really helpful and nice
Great mechanics
Excellent Products
I have felt this way for years…cost of labor is very high and seems out of proportion to the work that is done

Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have had a bad experience with Bicycle Habitat in Park Slope (5th Avenue), Brooklyn, NY.
I brought my bicycle to the store on Sunday (3/23/25) asking to check out the front gear since it was not engaging. I also asked them to check the rear gears because, although it is working, it was not working smoothly; and also asked them to "mount" a new tape on my handlebar.
Two days later, I received a work order in which it was suggested to change brake pads front an rear, new chain, and a new cassette, for a total of $364.xx.
I was very surprised, particularly with the brakes because I have hardly used the bike and did not report any problems with the brakes. In any case, I replied politely telling them that my budget was very "tight" at the moment, to just fix the front gear cable to the best of their abilities, and to mount the tape on my handlebar.
It took another 3 days to have the work "complete" and that is only after I asked them to have the bike back by Saturday. Unfortunately, the work was not "satisfactory" at 100%:
a) they adjusted the front gear cable and must have made some adjustments to the rear gear cable as well because now it works much better than before.
b) they mounted the new tape on my handlebar - I had a small wire cable for my electric horn that run outside of the old handlebar tape because it was easier to remove if I need to change its position or for maintenance. - Instead of calling me and ask me if I wanted this cable to be outside or covered by the new tape, they decided on their own to cover it and now, if I decide to change the position of my horn or for any maintenance, i will have to remove the handlebar taping!
c) I had a small ring bell positioned in such a way that I could ring it without removing my hands from the handlebar. They had to remove it, of course, to install the new taping, but they put it back totally wrong.
d) They bled my rear disk brakes and never put it back in a working order (in the same state I gave my bike almost a week earlier). Whey did they do that?!?
When I picked up my bike on Friday evening I did not realized that my rear brakes were bled because it is not what I asked them to do. I only found that out the next day when I went for a ride.
At that point, being furious, I just took my bike to another bike shop.
I will never go back to Bicycle Habitat again and will never give a good recommendation to any of my friends. I would rather take my bike to a store 10 miles away and go home via subway than to return to your store in Park Slope!
"Success is in the details" - I do not know who said that, but I am sure he/she was someone who had a similar experience!
