The support was excellent and the company worked very hard to ensure all our needs were met. We were given many options, and allowed to choose the service that was best for us. When we no longer needed the service, we were not bullied or pressured to continue with it - it was simply cancelled. Very professional!

Previously, I had hired We Care to assist my Mother. After several dismal months, this is the standard I understood Home Health Care would be held to. I dismissed them as they just were not making any difference. When it became apparent that my Mum was needing help again, I looked for reviews for Nurse Next Door, and people were saying that they were a vast improvement over We Care. More expensive, yes, but there were differences. We Care includes travel time which is deducted from the time allotment for care. Their minimum visit is 1 hour, which often left 40 minutes of actual assistance for Mum, so I think that cost wise, it evens out. The biggest difference is in their staff. If I visit Mum after Jackie has been there, Mum is clean and happy, and her suite is so tidy. After We Care, there were dirty dishes left on the counter from breakfast, etc, nothing done that I thought I was paying for. Having met a couple of their care aides, I was less than impressed, and kind of felt that their training was minimal, and they were only there until something better came along. Mum really looks forward to having Jackie visit (and she comes at 6AM when Mum wakes up!) We Care would often show up at 9-10 despite assurances that they would be there 7-8. Jackie has been able to get Mum's confidence enough to get her in the shower (this is amazing, believe me) On the whole, personally I feel confident that I've made the right choice, and it gives me a lot of relief to know the value Jackie puts into her work, and it reflects so positively on my Mum.
As Mum is a private-pay client, I have recently applied to Fraser Health to see about getting her subsidized. I understand that Fraser Health employs We Care to come into The Cedars for extra care. I would feel a lot better if I knew it was Nurse Next Door. Have you given any thought to going after this contract?
