Great classes, beautiful facility, kind staff
Been going to Lakewood since 1977. It’s a family atmosphere and everyone is so friendly. It’s my home away from home. Have acquired many friends over the years. They have everything you need to keep in shape. Would highly recommend to anyone!
Staff, community, environment. Parking lot meets needs for Y members and easy access- except in times of school or rec sports games! Then it can be a real pain. But still better location for me than Downtown. I go to all 3 (Downtown, ATC and Lakewood). Lakewood is my favorite.
I like the newness of the facility and that it's part of the Triangle YMCA.

The staff is always friendly and helpful at the Lakewood Y. The Lakewood Y is very cozy and homey.
Lady J (Janice) Commit aerobics class. We very much miss the Pound class she used to teach on Thursday evenings.
I love the people who work there -- from front desk to the instructors -- they are knowledgeable and very welcoming of all skill levels. Also love the size of the facility and the equipment.

The space has so much natural light. The ceilings are high. That’s why I don’t like to use the Downtown Y

First I would like to say that I consider myself a member of Durham YMCA and I attend all branches. I do not think of myself as a Lakewood Y member.

Great staff and instructors.
Location convenience and the excellent staff enhance membership experience. The facility has good equipment for a range of needs. The sauna is an additional benefit. Generally a clean place and pleasant experience.
The facility is well kept, the equipment is in good order, and the people working there and using the facility are really nice.

Steam room
Feels like family, staff and patrons very friendly. Clean. Variety of gear. Never too crowded, good parking.
On the other hand, the Triangle Y app and website are abysmal, never work as advertised, always a hassle.
Friendly people who I've been seeing at the Y for years and years, generally not too crowded, good class options, laid-back atmosphere, sense of community, feeling of purpose.
The facilities are clean, there is rarely a wait for machines and the staff are friendly.

First of all I would like to say that the staff is absolutely the best at all the facilities. I frequent Lakewood more than the other YMCAs in Durham. For me I feel at home at Lakewood. Several friends also workout there and that adds to the ambiance. Being retired I am not in a position to socialize, but Lakewood offers much needed socialization. Which is what older men like me need very much.
I really enjoy working out at Lakewood. Actually, many years ago I swam in the little pool that was located where the equipment is located. It has all the challenges that I enjoy in a workout. For me equipment is just that equipment, but in summary I would say it is all the people both staff and participants that make Lakewood the best. Absolutely the best!
We are fortunate to have Lakewood. Looking forward to my morning workout.

The staff is very friendly and the equipment is well-kept and clean.
It's easy to get parking compared to downtown Y. I like the atmosphere and friendly staff at Lakewood. The classes like Ae's Pilates class and Amy's Barre class are great.
