Great staff, welcoming. Good classes. Please add a dance class Sunday afternoon. And please add some overflow parking! Sometimes I’ve signed up fir a class and then can’t attend because I can’t park.

Lakewood is my favorite Durham YMCA branch. I like that the equipment I need is typically available and it’s never too crowded there, even during after work hours. Going to Lakewood makes it easy to work out.
I was very warmly welcomed with a tour of the facility. I really like the Cybex elliptical machines, and not every club has them.
Saturday boot camp is wonderful

I like my Lakewood YMCA because of a particular instructor I have had: Nancy S. She is a wonderful instructor and her classes are an hour long with cardio, core work, and strength training…. After attending her classes three times a week for around two years, my back pain, shoulder pain, and neck pain were greatly alleviated.
So easy and not crowded!
We absolutely love the downtown YMCA. As a middle aged mom I love the gym because I don't feel intimidated by the folks working out there. The equipment is always in working order and clean. The staff throughout are FANTASTIC. Although the building is old, it is so clean. And finally, a plug for YOTA....Stanley Bass is a UNICORN of a coach. I believe he almost single-handedly brought our child back after she had a really tough time in COVID. WE LOVE THE YMCA!

I like Lakewood because it isn't very crowded, it has a mixed crowd of people, and everyone is polite and friendly.
Mostly quiet. Very diverse age/race etc
My trainer Talaya who made an excellent first impression. I do appreciate the smaller community of members also.

We have access to several sites. Classes are excellent, although there were more offered during the day like there were before the pandemic.

In a smaller, more “cozy” environment, there are all the machines I need. Often it is less crowded than my usual downtown branch.
Ease of check in check out. Friendliness of staff. Cleanliness. Steam and sauna consistent availability. Not overcrowded, parking.
The Lakewood YMCA is consistent and easy to use. I love the community sports at the Lakewood Y and seeing so many friends and neighbors out there with us!

Large exercise room (larger than those at downtown or Hope Valley). Never too crowded. Nicer sauna & steam room than the downtown YMCA. Also has ping pong tables and a racquet ball court
I love the quietness of the Lakewood YMCA on a weekday afternoon! However, I don't love having to squeeze past the Ping Pong table and players in the lobby...
