Very friendly & inclusive atmosphere. Ellie's strength training class (Lean & Cut) is great. Good fans in the group exercise room, women's locker room is comfortable & spacious, lots of good fitness equipment. And it's fun to see young kids playing ping pong while all of the other stuff is going on.
I have only one class there these days but besides the room which is difficult to temp control and the fans whir. I have always liked Lakewood.
I don’t think the front desk is really checking memberships anymore, there are a lot of people in Monday nights yoga and either we should stop signing up since it seems pointless or someone should check that you signed up.
A new member told me that she never was told about the app, that seems well, not very effective

What I enjoy about Lakewood, it has a community feel. Everyone seems friendly. I feel comfortable there, even though it is small there are plenty equipment to work with. The person behind the desk is friendly and helpful.

1. Lakewood is very spacious with all the equipment I could possibly want. 2. I also take classes there. Mornings are my preference, and pilates, the cardio class and barre provide a good rotation for me. 3. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. 4. Parking is not a problem for me.

I love my classes at the Y. All of the teachers are professional, knowledgeable, compassionate, and kind. The community and staff are also great.
I do much prefer when classes end at the appointed time, rather than running over.
I love how it feels like a part of the neighborhood. I love the sauna and steam room. I love how clean it is all of the time. The staff is welcoming and always willing to answer questions.

Family environment
I love nearly everything about this location. My only negative comment is that sometimes the music is too loud. when you consider that 80% of people are wearing headphones..
the good news is that the staff have always reduced the volume upon request. the situation is boils down to the fact that if listening to a podcast on my bluetooth headset, if I have to turn it up way too loud to overcome the ambient music then I am risking damage to my hearing.
It’s been ages since i took a durham Y class (i now live in raleigh). I used to take Anthony’s kickboxing class about a dozen years ago & was thrilled to be able to take it again-and see that it’s just as great as it was back then!
Super clean. Love the exercise equipment. Afterwards I love a good steam . Friendly staff.

Been going to Lakewood since 1977. It’s a family atmosphere and everyone is so friendly. It’s my home away from home. Have acquired many friends over the years. They have everything you need to keep in shape. Would highly recommend to anyone!
Staff, community, environment. Parking lot meets needs for Y members and easy access- except in times of school or rec sports games! Then it can be a real pain. But still better location for me than Downtown. I go to all 3 (Downtown, ATC and Lakewood). Lakewood is my favorite.
I like the newness of the facility and that it's part of the Triangle YMCA.
Outdoor track
I like the convenience and the employees. Nice neighborhood feel. Please do what you can to manage costs - I am retired and I believe membership cost rose 7%
