So I consider myself a member of Durham YMCA and go to all of the Durham branches-not sure why they call me a Lakewood Y member.
I like group fitness classes. especially Nancy's class (which I wish was longer), boot camp with Ashley and Lenae's Thursday am Zumba. The staff at the desk are always nice and helpful, especially Shawn (SP?) and the guy with the shaved head.
The staff are wonderful and welcoming, the facilities clean and the childcare staff are so kind and generous with our child. Thank you!
The great location, the helpful staff, the easy-going members, the excellent and expansive equipment, the convenient and appropriate hours, the updated facility, the ample parking, and the community involvement.
I love the people who work here. The whole vibe at Lakewood is so welcoming that i choose going there over the downtown YMCA even though they have some other equipment that i perfer. Lakewood is a gym i look forward to going too.

Staff is friendly. Equipment is well-maintained. Wet areas are generally clean and functioning.
I like the clean, modern facilities, ample treadmills, and enough bands and resistance machines for me to complete my workout.

Good selection of classes and equipment in good shape, but it’s really the right size. Not too small like HV — like the front desk guys are super friendly, it’s just super chill. Better hours on Sunday would be nice.
Friendly service, never too crowded (appropriately sized parking lot, woohoo!), clean. Can't ask for anything more from my YMCA
Great staff. Large space for the workout equipment. Steamroom and sauna are great amenities.
Friendly staff, good exercise gear, good locker room. Love Friday's yoga classes with Betsy, she is a terrific yoga instructor.

Diversity
I like the size of the Lakewood YMCA facility ... and I LOVE my M/W/F class with Nancy Sawaya and our "Y tribe!"
Love Nancy S ‘s class without her, I would not drive 25 minutes to attend her perfect class MWF in the morning. Just wish she has every day
Staff are so friendly and helpful. Lenae is a great instructor who makes everyone feel welcome.
Friendly staff and the clean locker rooms
Racquetball Courts, friendly staff, small but well thought out. Steam room. Everybody knows most everybody.
The staff is great (shout out to Shan), I loooove Nancy’s class and Lakewood has a great community feel. I have friends at Lakewood who I have known since I started at the y in 1996.

Steam room works consistently.
The classes- specifically Nancy’s aerobics class. I also maintain my Y membership because of Kit’s PiYo class at the downtown Y on Saturday mornings.
The gym and locker room at Lakewood are in great condition, and the staff is always very welcoming, friendly, and helpful!
Helpful riendly staff, Ellie's class, location, equipment, locker room. All the Durham Ys look like Durham, it's a force for building community.
