Family is why I like Mel Korum YMCA. I have been going to the gym for over 10 years and my extended family continues to grow. I retired at the end of 2013 and on January 2, 2014 I wanted to get in better shape and enjoy my retirement. I had a hear attack on the pool deck and coded but Bev Eredia hit me with a difibulator and a couple of rounds of CPR. A ambulance ride to the hospital, emergency surgery to place a stent, 12 days of rehab, I was back at the Y ever since.
The Y is clean, easy to access, and the employees and members are wonderful. I've made a lot of friends, I exercise foran hour and half, but often spend another hour enjoying talking to everyone, relaxing in the sauna, steam room, or jacuzzi and often making plans for afterwords.
Great equipment, clean facilities. Friendly staff. Highly recommended by two seniors.

I have been to downtown Tacoma YMCA they are friendlier and welcoming. They keep the locker room cleaner. The pool is great also.
I have been to Morgan YMCA Tacoma. They by far are the friendliest, always greet you and make you feel welcomed. They also keep their locker rooms cleaner.
Puyallup needs to work on being more friendly environment, life guards could definitely be more friendly. Not one of them ever says hello. Work on keeping the locker room cleaner and make sure shower drains are not clogged. I drive 92 miles round trip to Puyallup as it is the closest. I prefer to go to Tacoma YMCA’s if I’m heading that direction. You definitely can make these simple improvements.
