Years ago after Bicycle Specialties closed I needed a tune up for my Cannondale. I asked Hartley's if I could make an appointment so I would know when I'd get the bike back. As I recall they just weren't helpful. I called American Bicycle and Fitness....made and appointment and have been a loyal customer ever since.
My 2007 Madone still seems like a brand new bike.
Interesting how different people like different shops...but for me Trek DG is #1

We brought in a bike for repair and they were very helpful, honest and very easy to work with.
I visited the Downers Grove store with my daughter this past Sunday. I came in to have work done on my bike, my daughter wanted to purchase a new bike. The service department was awesome, fully explained all my options and the costs, they were great to work with.
The gentleman that helped my daughter was awesome with her. He helped her chose the right bike for her and she too was quite happy with her purchase and the assistance she received.
I just received notice today that my bike work was completed, and I am very happy with the cost as well.

My bike was in for a whole month and they never called me to let me know. I had been calling often for the first month and it was not in yet. I stopped calling because they told me they would call me. We stopped into the store to find out what was up and it had been sitting there for a whole month. No phone call.

I paid $90 for a "detail" and tuning of my older Trek 6500. I spoke to (2) different associates before actually leaving my bike and the word "detail" was used both times. To me a "detail" means to completely wash, clean and wax an item. I got my bike back and the air pressure was under 35lbs, way low, the bike was dirty, like had Not even been wiped down. I could have done better myself with a rag and 5 min of my time. To the point that when I went for a ride at home, the grips left a dirt mark on my hands, that was NOT that dirty before. Also the valve stems were loose and Not tightened against the actual rim of the bike and I was missing both valve stem caps. I looked at the bike inside and clearly did not catch any of this prior to leaving the facility. I spoke to manager Sean/Shawn over the phone, he apologized and was very polite. He said to bring my bike back this fall and they would go through it again free of charge. It unfortunately made me wonder what they did for my $90..?!?! My total bill was $172 for total parts and labor for what I had done. I am Not the kind of person to nit pick on every small issue, but this seemed a little excessive in the "lack of effort/attention to detail" even for me. I guess we will see what happens in Oct when I bring it back again. This also takes My time and effort to drop off and pick up again, which my time means something to me, and this should not have even been necessary. First name removed G.
Always fast and friendly service with top bike mechanics on board...been coming here for many years.
The bike repair/service staff is wonderful. They have never let me down. Very accommodating, helpful, knowledgeable and sincere. They always seem to go out of their way to help me. For that reason, I keep going back. I would only have one suggestion- maybe hire a woman to work somewhere in the store. A friend told me she wanted to buy apparel and had a negative experience with a salesman. She said she would not go back for that reason. I have never encountered that- quite the opposite.
