Friendly community. Excellent instructors. Vibrant programs. The YMCA is the best workout experience!
Class w/ Jackie Wise has been good. She is outstanding.
I very much enjoy the staff, the atmosphere, and the availability of so many programs and offerings. I love the pool, the group exercise opportunities, and I always see the team working hard to improve the cleanliness and functionality of the facility. I have been a proud member of the YMCA on W St. for more than 15 years. They assisted me and achieving my goal of representing the United States in the 2016 Paralympic games: and I would love to be able to offer my game of GOALBALL once or twice a month at the YMCA.
The sense of community and meeting new people.
I appreciate what is available and I’m glad to support this community resource.
The community that the Ymca builds with especially the retired community is so amazing and the rest of us get to enjoy it where whenever you come there, everyone is so friendly and so outgoing and it’s just an incredible experience. You need to explicitly train your front desk staff to be more engaged. They clearly seem like they don’t enjoy their jobs. They’re often on their phones all the problems with young people today. So please start doing like weekly trainings with them like stay off your phone. Make sure you greeting people and say hello and smile and act like you’re happy to be there. I’ve seen such incredible turnover so I get that probably it’s a hard job to fill, but still I feel like those kinds of things are a spiral like if you encourage them to be friendlier and more outgoing then they might enjoy their work more. Also, it’s kind of crummy that they just have to sit there in an ironic twist of being at a gym. You should let them have some kind of exercise equipment back there if they want so instead of being on their phones, they could be lifting weights or using a stretchy band or something like that or even if any of them have taken up knitting and crocheting, I think that would be sweet if the old people got to walk through the door and saw the young people knitting or crocheting
Community.
Friendly staff. Professional teachers/facilitators. Really like the water aerobics instructor who ends each routine with an :Ahhhhhhhhhhhh"
The Y has a very welcoming vibe and the staff and members are friendly. This makes a very big difference in how much one enjoys exercising. I've appreciated all the classes I've taken at Central Y, but would like to recognize Tia and Amy in particular. They are experts.
The instructors are outstanding and the variety and times of group classes are perfect for me. I just turned 73 and my health is better now than it was when I was in my 60s. I credit the ten classes a week I take at the Y with this improvement. Also the location is convenient and I appreciate the availability of parking.
I enjoy the water exercise classes with Pat and with Theresa. Not only are they beneficial to me physically, they bring me so much joy.
I like the smaller group exercise offerings. The classes are conveniently spread across different days and times. The fitness class leaders I've encountered are very welcoming, well prepared, and make the class lots of fun.
Every staff member I've encountered has been helpful and cheerful. The classes I have taken (water exercise for arthritis and water aerobics, and now fall prevention) have outstanding instructors and have really made a difference in my mobility and general fitness.

Clean and well maintained.
The Y has a good variety of classes and activities.
I love this place. The people are fantastic and the classes are wonderful. It may not be the flashiest place in town, but it’s definitely got a wholesome healthy community feel. This YMCA is a huge asset to our community. It’s a great place for experienced athletes and for people just starting out. The whole center is very welcoming and efficiently run. I could never imagine wanting to go anywhere else.
I love the Arthritis swim class led by Pat Wolfe.
