Member Testimonials
People working at Central Y are very friendly and remember me, that's very flattering especially after a long absence while recovering from hip surgery. Most folks attending the y for fun or fitness are also very friendly and accommodating: splitting swimming lanes, not monopolizing disability features and just generally being kind.
There's always a quick smile amongst users and workers.
I like the variety of classes and the quality of the class that you offer
The ease of use of the cardio facilities and weight room!
I like the aquatic exercise classes. I also like that it’s a friendly place with a good mission.
The tai chi class is the best
Friendly staff, large program, easy to enroll.
Very clean facilities, friendly staff, a very mellow place to exercise and work out
The water aerobics program is by far the best of any gyms in the area.
I enjoy the variety and especially the evening Tai Chi/ Qigong class
I Enjoy the water exercise.. the teacher and the way I feel afterwards… refreshed and happy..
Convenient. Everyone is very helpful and kind. Facility is also always neat and clean.
All the teachers I've had are wonderful. A wide variety of classes is offered.Classes start on time and are diverse and each provides a way to reach your personal fitness goal.. There is an acceptance that some of us have limitations on what we can do.
You are local and convenient. I like the vibe, friendly and informal, no one has anything to prove. I have particularly enjoyed Jen's small weight training classes, rigorous and safe, good attention to form, great spirit. I gave the Y9 out of 10 rather than 10 out of 10 because the physical plan kind times be funky and issues such as nonfunctioning air-conditioning or too intense air conditioning are not always addressed promptly.
I enjoy the friendships that I have had through the years. I especially like the diversity and the intergeneration connections from 6 months to the elders. The Y is my home away from home.
I participate in a regular session which is enjoyable and beneficial to my health.
Excellent classes, wonderful staff and members
I appreciate the accessibility of the Y, along with the variety of fitness options available for all ages.
The YMCA is a friendly place where I work out 5 times a week happily.
Thanks 😊
It's fun
The water aerobic classes. And the stretch, strength and balance classes.
My instructor, Pat and after exercising my body feels so much better ..Name removed
I enjoy the community environment at the Y. People are friendly and the group exercise instructors are wonderful!
Bootcamp with Hallie, Elias, and Jenn is the best!
Good place for kids
The YMCA is a friendly, low pressure environment with plenty of classes and activities to keep me coming back. Thank you!
I’ve been a member for many years, but I’ve only been able to start attending regularly in the last two because of my work schedule. I have to say that I find the atmosphere vastly more welcoming and wholesome than any of the more expensive gyms that I have been a member of in town. I really appreciate the kind behavior of the people at the front desk and the huge variety of classes that are available. Additionally, I find most of the instructors to be very knowledgeable and welcoming, and I have become much healthier over the last two years because the friendliness of the instructors has kept me coming back. There have been many good ones, but I would have to specifically mention Amy, Elias, and Tia. All three of them are much more than instructors, they provide a consistently welcoming and affirming environment. I always tell people it’s not the fanciest gym in town, but in my opinion, it’s one of the most important resources in Sacramento.
Non threatening/judgemental atmosphere
Nice place, not too crowded, helpful staff.

Lots of options for activities and a CLEAN, odor-free facility!
