My experience with the YMCA spans five decades. My daughter learned to swim at the Y when she was about 5 years old. I have always been active and was a runner for many years. But when I developed arthritic in my back, I could no longer run. I had to find a new form of exercise that I could do without the strain on my back. My solution was swimming. When I retired in 2004, I began swimming laps three days a week. Although the pandemic threw a wrench in my swimming schedule I swam again after the pool opened. Then there was a few months where I could not swim because I fell down and tore a muscle in my shoulder. I tried several of the Y's exercise classes, but none of them worked for me. Thank goodness I am now able to swim again. The bottom line is, because of the many exercise, yoga, balance and classes for seniors, I am aware that the Y has something for anyone, any age. I have been a fan for years. I hope to continue my journey at the YMCA for many years to come.
its a great way to get access to a gym which is open to people of all kinds and meets what i need out of a gym
-Warm water in the pool !
-Clean shower and dressing rooms. Even though they are old.. they are cleaned really well.
-The swim suit spinner machine to get the water out
Group classes and instructors. Emphasis on community and serving a wide range of people , including those with disabilities.
The classes offered are numerous and excellent. Large locker rooms!

I love water exercise classes. They have become a regular part of my routine. It’s so important to keep moving! This is a fun way to do that. And I have made new friendships too.

i love THE Y. s member of Pat's arthritis class since 2012. and the pot lucks!!!!! however,,,,one of the newee Male lifegiards seems to think he's in charge of us- a bunch of old ladiesd. He needs to be reminded of the FINANCIAL help all of us contribute to the Y and change his attitude. but thanks for all
The YMCA is a life saver to so many people like myself, all the programs are so well organized and easy to participate in. I am fortunate to have my health insurance pay for my membership. I use it mostly for Falls prevention and hydro therapy.
I like the variety of classes and hours the classes are offered. The staff are friendly and supportive
I really enjoy belonging to the YMCA in downtown Sacramento. I have met many very kind people and although I only swim there, I know there are other opportunities for me to take some other classes as well, which is wonderful. I really enjoy the people at the front desk. They are very kind and the lifeguards in the morning have been wonderful so far.
The variety of classes for seniors. Water aerobics classes. Instr u ctors are knowledgeable and engaging. Front desk staff cheerful and helpful. Programs for special needs children.
I like the community vibe.
Not cool closing the pool to the public on a Saturday without notice to the members for some private event. Absolutely ridiculous. I should get some money back on my membership. I brought my whole family to swim yesterday and they were all mad at me because I didn’t know the pool was closed for some private event. Shame on you.
Variety of activities, friendliness of staff and members.
That there are a variety of programs and that there are an indoor pool and gym
Friendly staff, comfortable place to work out, love the classes.
I appreciate having so many choices for keeping up my physical activity.
Friendly staff
I love that my old Y provides a shelter & pool for neighbors to gather & exercise for fun and health!
Although Y communication could be improved (you are forgetting the demographic that is not app savvy and has relied on posters, billboards, newsletters, flyers and potluck notices taped on doors that we use), some great things do happen.
I treasure the days that the pool hits 85°, the showers are hot, and the lifeguards stay awake!
Blessings to Ukrainian Natalia who brings us integrity hard work & cleaning for the Y! Old standards I thought had disappeared forever!
Special thanks to all aquatic instructors who work hard to bring us music, equipment, training techniques, smiles, and their positive energy for our benefit!
Love my classes with Tia& Amy.
On the downside, although the front desk always says a friendly hello, I noticed that on Friday, November 7th the large calendar on the wall still read October. Since it was the day of a special senior potluck, more people may have come if someone other than Tia informed us or if it was on the November wall calendar.
We don’t need or want points or to follow things on Facebook etc. just need simple old fashioned calendar that changes on the first of the month and is kept up to date.
Only do pool which I really enjoy. The instructors are great.
I like the people that work there and the family atmosphere.
Friendly staff, good variety of equipment and classes, good hours to accommodate all users.
Attentive staff and teachers
The classes, the friends I’ve made, the staff at the front desk.
Group classes and the instructors, that teach them, are amazing!

Staff is great, great classes, good array of equipment
