I like how laid back it is. I like the fact that there are 6 baseball hoops. I think that the weight area could use a bit of a refresher. some of the machines feel a little old, some of the weights seem to have chunks missing out of them. but other than that its a great Ymca and a great option instead of having to drive to cary

Staff and other members are friendly. Good variety with group fitness classes. Good instructors. Machines well maintained.
I love that it really feels like a community gym- everyone is friendly, encouraging, and courteous. Never feel intimidated!
Need to enforce the cell phone rules they sit on workout machines for hours reading messages communicating why people are waiting to use the machines more people cleaning up more

The location is convenient it’s spacious very clean and offer several different options
The Downtown Durham YMCA has been a real community for me. I love being greeted by many of the same employees each time I visit, I always feel welcome. Group fitness classes are a highlight of my YMCA experience as well - the instructors are all amazing, and I love working out with others in a group setting. In particular, Anthony's Thursday night Kickboxing class is one of my favorite workouts each week!

The ladies at the front desk are friendly. Our Zumba lass is awesome and Lola Ross, our instructor is a great Zumba teacher and lovely person. Facility is clean and well equipped.

Always friendly staff, the diverse membership looks like Durham. Good to see people with disabilities using the facilities for rehabilitation. The indoor track is wonderful for walking & running in bad weather, especially this summer!

I made friends with several people. 4 of them even actually came to my late sister's funeral recently in Raleigh!

Also appreciate Y-member, Mr. Greene, for bringing groceries every single Monday, a lot of work, that helps many people! A labor of love!
He also listens to several troubled souls' woes, as he walks the track with them individually. I asked him how he stands it? Haha. Therapist-in-Chief every day..
The staff are really wonderful too and everyone at the front desk, including Dee and too many others to name. And custodians both always have a kind greeting to everyone. Maria and have have conversations sometimes too.
One time a staff member even re-installed HGTV for me, in front of the treadmills, after it disappeared.
Lots of work to do that. It took patience and expertise. Thank you!
I love seeing all the U.S. Veterans, elders, exercising in the basketball courts, to keep healthy. I have a birds' eye view of the Vets and the AMAZING staff, who organize and inspire them!, as I walk my laps, on the indoor track, above, before moving on to the treadmill.
(BTW, HGTV keeps disappearing again and again. Could there be a blanket rule to always leave it on just ONE of the televisions?)
I love seeing all the children who come to swim, creating such an active, playful atmosphere. They talk to me if i greet them. What vitality to see, for this 84-year-old woman! Inspiring.

The staff was very nice. Disappointed that the steamroom was not operable after driving to Durham from Raleigh
I love the friendly atmosphere of the staff and other YMCA members.
The location is great and the upstairs workout are is huge with a lot of equipment.

I took my first trap yoga class at the downtown Durham Y on Saturday and loved everything about my experience!! I can’t wait to go back!
I like the variety of classes available, and how welcoming classes are to newcomers. I like that in the workout room, I can always find a machine I want to use, whether it be weights or cardio, even when it's busy, because there is a good amount and good variety of machines. The sauna is a great feature & the locker room has always been clean when I've been there. Location is great & parking nearby is usually easy, even when the dedicated lot is full. I really want to shout out the staff, because I've always had extremely positive interactions with every single staff member, who have always been helpful and kind. And I also want to say that the YMCA is making a big difference for me in terms of being able to work out and work on my health consistently. I have weird joints & traditional workouts can sometimes be tough for me, so I've been interested in swimming/water fitness for a while. As a member of the Y, now I can take adult swimming lessons to work on my technique for effective swimming workouts; I can join water fitness classes (which have been great so far); and I can still work out using traditional weights and machines when I can or want to. Having the variety and ability to choose the safest workout for me on any given day has been such an incredible benefit.
Front desk staff are so friendly, clean facilities.
They treat me like a valued family member! The facility is always clean. Great equipment! Great classes!
