That my son is always in a healthy environment.
I grew up in a very hot part of the US. You walked out the door & started to sweat. Why would I intentionally do something that would make me sweat even more?! Playing on the girls’ ball team at the neighborhood park was simply painful. I was put out in right field to catch the rare balls that went in that direction. When one did, I had to look up at the blazing sun, only to close my painfully squinting eyes as that ball shot toward me. Of course I rarely caught a ball & was barely tolerated by teammates. I much preferred to sit in the shade of the pecan tree reading a book. BUT last year I joined Yvonne & Ginger’s M/W/F morning Silver Somethings class & have had a true epiphany. For the first time in my life, I am enjoying exercise & doing it with people who have become my friends. I am stronger, have more muscle & flexibility even if I haven’t lost any weight, and am actually having fun. I truly miss it when I have to be absent.

Just love the Lakewood Y
The Lakewood Y is a great facility, lots of options, great pool. The membership is real diverse, a wide range of ages,ethnicities,and genders. My kind of place, makes me feel very much at home.

I love the group classes! Debra, Yvette, Toby, Sage, and Mindy are so supportive, challenging, and friendly. The classes are engaging.
Finally, there is always something going on. Whether it be book clubs, fitness activities , or workshops.
I just wish there were more hours in the day to partake in all of the fun!

The Water Aerobics Classes are so great! The Instructors keep you moving! The people I’ve met treat me like a friend and part of the community. Plenty of parking, too. From a welcoming “hello” as I scan my membership card and go into the locker area, to sincere greetings from staff each visit has been just what I need to keep on the road to better health.

Friendly environment
The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The facility is very clean. Parking is never an issue. The hours are great.
Enhance Fitness great class that covers flexibility, cardio, strength training and balance. The participants truly care for each other as well, and the monthly social time after class is a bonus.
Variety of classes. I'm a senior and like the classes offered in my age group.

It’s big had something for everyone of all ages
The thing I like most about the time I spend at the Lakewood Y are my instructors. They are devoted to my good health by their seasoned instruction and serve as an inspiration for me to continue attending their classes. As my attendance becomes more consistent and frequent, a magical thing happens... associations and friendships start to form. In the end my life is enriched by the connections I've made and my health is improved...quite a deal I'd say!
Enjoy all the Sr exercise classes, appreciate the varied times and days.
I am a senior and enjoy daily the great excercise classes and wonderful trainers, spacious areas for exercise classes, spacious pools for water aerobics, great walking area on top floor, cleanliness of the facility all around.
The embodiment of inclusion. Truly, a YMCA for all. Keep up the great work.
Parking is way better than the Morgan Family. The lighting early in the morning isn't as harsh. There are not TVs in front of every cardio machine.
