Kids came home dirty and exhausted and super happy! They were excited to go back each day & had a great time.
Being with friends and spending so much time outside
My sons love Camp at the Lake. They look forward to it every year! They love the water activities and the games. They love their counselors who make everything fun. They even love the bus ride to the camp. They attend several different camps, but Camp at the Lake is their perennial favorite.
My kids really love this camp. They are exposed to all types of new things like boating and fishing and the counselors make it so fun. They come home with funny songs and chants and they really have a great time.
All the different outdoor activities really kept my kids engaged and having fun for this summer.
Swimming
Thai was my sons first time attending the camp in the lake. By far the best experience he has had. The counselors are very attentive and make sure they have fun while being very safe. I was a bit worried because my son wasn’t very confident on his swimming, but the counselors made sure he was safe till he was ok to swim again. Everyone was great but my son got close with one of the counselors, Gus. He was like his older brother and made sure everyday he had fun and kept him safe. Thank you and we will definitely be back next year.
My two girls liked the outdoor activities Camp at the Lake offered. They got to learn new things like fishing, rafting and archery. They got to meet new kids their ages and older from different parts of NJ....as well as befriending kids from different backgrounds, ethnicities and cultures. They liked their camp counselors also. My understanding from my girls were that they were "cool". I hope to be able to have them experience the duration of the camp instead of just 3 weeks. They were disappointed when all other weeks were full.
Atmosphere. Counselors. Variety of outdoor activities.
My 8 year old kid has a blast at Camp at the Lake! Love that she gets a wide range of activities to try. Also, going to Camp at the Lake last year, and again this year was a great way to be ready to go to a YMCA sleepaway camp this summer!
Downside is the age and condition of facilities, especially bathrooms/changing rooms. I know there is fundraising and planning to upgrade the camp, so I feel good that this will be resolved in the next couple of years
Outdoor very nice counselors
Counselors seem very nice, great activities and my kid comes home excited every day.
Easy for parents, fun for kids!
Great outdoor fun with really fun Counselors
All the different activities that the camp offers
So far the experience has been great. There is always something to do and my son got to try things he never have before such as archery, paddle board, kayaking. He is otherwise quick to find excuses not to go to activities but when it comes to this camp, he is always in. The bus ride is a bit long but it is always on time so pick up and drop off is easy. Only negative comment that I have is that there is a lifeguard by name Gigi, she is very strict. My son is not quite sure what he is allowed or not allowed to do. She frequently yells, and it takes a bit fun out of the experience. Swim classes also seem a bit odd, where sub par swimmers are teaching swimming to kids who did not ask to be taught and are pretty good swimmers already.
Child perspective: Really enjoyed all of the activities. Loved paddleboarding.
Parent perspective: Loved how organized everything was. Every interaction we had with a person was friendly.
Our kids have a blast!
The kids come home happy every day, and the counselors all seem wonderful. We did Family Day and we all had a blast. The facilities were great.
Kids are outside all day! Plenty of activities to keep kids busy all day. Staff is friendly and attentive.
‘It is so much fun, has many friendly people, and daily free swim.’
‘I also like doing art and Gaga is the best.’
The nostalgic camp experience grounded in outdoor play. Lake activities, Gaga, nature, fun getting dirty and happily tired at night.
My daughter has been attending Camp On The Lake for the past 7 years she loves the outdoor Lake and beautiful environment
My son loved his camp at the lake experience, even though it was poor weather for the first week. There was a bit of miscommunication with one of the counselors where he was told he couldn't do archery, but the director got it all resolved, and even let him go try out archery outside of his normal group time which he loved.
He can't wait to go back next year, and is a bit sad to be signed up for other camps for the rest of this summer. Every day he raved about one piece or the other. And I loved the opportunity to go check out the camp myself to see what all the activities were.
All the activities are wonderful, the only knock on the camp is lack of indoor facilities which is concerning in the event of a storm or some such event.
How tired my daughter comes home afterward!
The counselors are engaged and friendly. My kids say they do so many activities and enjoy the outdoors. When they come home smiling and singing songs, it lets me know we've done the right thing. The program is organized with multiple locations for bus drop off and pick up. We love this program.
The kids are treated well and have a fun summer time experience.
I do wish the counselors would call as they did in the past to tell us how our kid is doing.
The kids loved all of the activities. We had a rainy week so I was worried things wouldn’t be as fun. But everyday the kids came home with new adventures to tell us and new friends!

My son Chase LOVES this camp! he looks forward to going every year. We especially love the variety of activities offers and how well organized the camp is.
