Child watch, swimming lessons, classes
The volleyball coach is truly excellent with the kids!
well organized
great instructors
I love the way I feel after doing an aquatic swim class three times a week. Also love using the weight room whenever I can.
Really appreciate the reformer Pilates class!
The classes are fantastic - enough to motivate me to attend at 6AM in the freezing cold! The equipment is also well maintained, and I have never had to wait for a machine.
I love the Melrose YMCA. It is a welcoming community with amazing staff who are committed to helping people meet their health and fitness goals.
The Mon night class with Scott and the Tuesday and Thursday afternoon classes with Rubens! Great exercise tailored towards specific needs but flexible for different activity levels. You guys are the best and we so appreciate you! Rubens, thanks so much for stepping in to take over the afternoon classes when the need arose. You have made them fun and a great workout. Also thanks so much for taking each individuals needs into account. The addition of the hokey pokey is particularly fun! Thanks, Anne and Kathy
Friendly people and staff. A wide range of classes covering many areas of fitness.
It's a nice atmosphere to exercise. Everyone that works there are so helpful and nice, matched by the clientele.
It’s geared to a mixed clientele
The classes for seniors are convenient, staff is very accommodating and notifications are current.
I love yoga but the class fills up minutes after it opens. Can we add more classes at 7am or 7:30am for those who work during the day?
Great facility and equipment
Knowledgeable and friendly trainers and staff. Lots of variety in class options
The new fitness center is beautiful. The staff members are friendly and helpful.
Love the LIVESTRONG program, just what I needed. Very knowledgeable people involved and very helpful. Your facility is great, very updated, everything you need to live a healthy life.
Fun and healthy
Lots of choices, friendly staff and able to sign up as needed.
Lots of choices
Friendly staff, good facilities, great mobile app and variety of course offerings! Have already recommended to family members who are signing up in their community.
great people great program
All the programs I have taken were first class. The instructors are helpful and encouraging and it gives people a chance to get together and promotes camaraderie with others. I have been a member for many years and I can honestly say, I've thoroughly enjoyed belonging to the Melrose YMCA. I hope to be a member for many years to come.

I enjoy Chair Yoga although I liked it better when it was on the third floor. The second floor room is so small that it fills up quickly. I have to set an alarm to remind me to register as soon as registration is open.
I really enjoy ballroom line dancing.
The completed remodeling of the Melrose Y is for the most part great. There are still problems that need to be addressed.
The mind body studio is too small for the number of people allowed to sign up for class. Also, the heating/cooling system does not work properly and too often the room is either way too hot or, extremely cold.
The heating/cooling system on the 3rd floor is also an ongoing problem. During the winter it is freezing up there! I have had to keep wearing my fleece jacket while doing TRX this month.
I think the Y has seemed a little cleaner since the completion of all the building work. However, the weights on the 3rd floor are still disgustingly dirty. I try to get to class early enough to wash my weights off before use but YUCK! They still look filthy.
Access to weights has become a little better but I still have to get to class at least 1/2 hour early in order to have a chance of getting a usable selection of weights.
Access to class sign ups for popular classes is difficult. If you are not signing up for 8:30 am Yoga or Total Body Strength classes or 9:45 Tuesday TRX class within the first minute or two of sign up time, you are generally out of luck. At least for Courtney's 8:30 Total Body Strength classes I think it could help if you used the large space and weights in the basement as over flow. Put a computer screen down there and then use the virtual broadcast of that class. I think that space is used by kids after school but at 8:30 AM they are not at the Y and the space is going to waste.
Thanks for seeking comments/suggestions.
BTW Michelle and Courtney are my favorite instructors.
The yoga & Pilates teachers are great. Child watch crew is also great. I wish there were more adult lap swim hours available when child watch is open.
It is a great place for everyone to visit. Very conducive and safe
Cost, culture / friendliness, new renovation
I love the Metro North Y! I have enjoyed the facilities of all the branches so far except I haven't made it to Saugus yet. I would love if a 5:30, 5:45, or 6:00 p.m. spin class was added to Fridays
at any of the branches.

They are the best!
