Member Testimonials
the teacers are unbelieveable, particularly Michelle, Bernie, Julia and Nicole
I love the barre class and the frequency of opportunities to swim. I wish the educator discount applied to all teachers and not just those from specific schools.
Chair-based classes are super popular! Would love to see more of them.
I always get excited wen I receive these surveys, because I love singing the praises of your amazing team. The physical improvements and renovations at Melrose have upped the quality of the facilities by several notches (so clean and bright!); however, the real value of the YMCA experience is in the people.
I work directly with Lauren Sanford as a personal trainer and Nicole Wade as part of the Menopause Fitness class.
Lauren is an amazing teacher and cheerleader for me, and her guidance and structured program have made a huge difference in my life. Picking up heavier objects is easier, walking or running upstairs don't leave me out of breath, and I'm constantly surprising myself with all I can do at the gym. She's kind, she has an amazing sense of humor, and I always feel safe and capable under her watchful eye. She is knowledgeable, creative, and precise in her training, and you can see the art of her work as well as the science-driven design. I can't believe how lucky I am to have found her, and she's the perfect match for my goals of building muscle and recomping to reduce visible fat.
Nicole Wade is like the Obi-Wan Kenobi of fitness. Her broad base of wellness knowledge, Pilates and weight training background, and her passion for research and best practices shine through her teaching and direction. I'm so glad that the demand for the Menopause Fitness program has grown the class into 4 sections. Nicole has built a community of 40+ women who exude confidence, curiosity, and capability in the gym. Every week in class, I see individuals making PRs and experimenting with new movements. Nicole incorporates a spirit of play into our workouts, and she communicates in a clear, straight, and honest way about the realities of body recomposition (if that's our goal), consistency in progressive overload, and the need for self-compassion along the way.
I absolutely love the classes! I never miss a Sunday class with Greg he's an amazing addition to the team in Melrose. I can't speak highly enough of Veronica!! She pushes you to do better and be better and educates you as you are in her classes.
I love pilates with Nicole, Zumba with Allie and swimming classes with Aizek
the variety of levels - including classes good for seniors
The classes and instructors are great!
The LiveStrong program is wonderful, & gives hope for people to continue to stay healthy! The swimming pool is also a good way to stay fit without straining achy joints & muscles.
I have only been to one session for the quick start , but Devaney was extremely kind and patient and gave good guidance. I am recovering from knee surgery so it will be a while until I can take advantage of the classes and the rest of the facility, but I plan to do.
Great classes at convenient times! Great 🌈
I like that I am able to use the Y programs on my crazy schedule. Utilize the 2 weeks at a time because of winter spent in Fl and summer in ME so here in between and on holiday visits.
I still work fulltime so I need to go to the early am classes to get a workout, truthfully at 67 I am too tired at end of day to work out. I enjoy all the group exercise classes. I absolutely LOVE Lauren Graves class at 6am on Thursdays.... just getting over a knee injury, she takes the time to make modifications, watches everyone to make sure we are all doing it correctly and also explains in full what we are doing and NOT to be doing. The Y also has a great workout room with bikes, treadmills, weights etc. A pool if swimming is your thing and a nice sauna right by the pool to loosen up and if just getting out of pool to warm up. The bathrooms/showers and changing rooms are very clean as well. And for the price per month its a win win!!!!
Love Michelle’s yoga classes and TRX class
I like the classes.
Nicole, Bernie and Veronica.
The progressive challenges by fantastic trainers. The people attending classes is also part of the really great experience.
Awesome place
I like the way the employees are always available to help the members with the excercise machines, and the front desk staff are always pleasant.
Nice clean facility with lots of options for workouts, exercise.
Th classes
Love the instructors. The new space is well planned. Pilates reformer and Zumba classes are great.
There is something for everyone and everyone feels accepted. I wish you had more lap swim times available though. it gets rather crowded in the morning!
I love my TRX and yoga classes with Michelle!
I just started the Lift Heavy Get Lean class. Kyle is very knowledgeable and motivating. I look forward to every class.
The new spaces are really great. The teachers and staff are excellent.
I was thinking earlier today that it would be a big improvement to have better free weight racks in the third floor space. The Y in Peabody has really nice free weight racks
I like that you offer physical activities and enrichment activities. I also appreciate that you offer, for example, different sports activities for younger children and at the same time yoga and dance classes that are less fast paced but also still fun. In addition to the more physical activities the enrichment classes are a great addition. I hope for the summer there is more offered on weekends for kids who look for more physical activities and enrichment classes in morning and mid-morning.
Also, I very much appreciate morning and mid-morning classes for young children since this is their best time of day.
Thanks to everyone for all your hard work and time and planning....you have brought a community together
