The Coach Clark is very patient with the kids and has a gentle disposition about himself !
Great gym, great staff and a good place to start your day.
My daughters instructor is very positive and encouraging. He does a great job keeping the kids focused and interested.
The group was small and the instructor is very patient, especially towards those with an extreme fear of deep water. Never felt like I didn't have enough attention if I struggled in a certain portion of the class.
Great instructor, I appreciate the advanced activities that has helped me gain comfort with the deep end.
My daughter's swimming instructor, Malaki, is awesome and works with her so well on new skills!
Great experience ! Took time with the kids didn’t rush and wasn’t crowded
The YMCA provided a swim experience that I never thought was possible to achieve. Their instructors are amazing, knowledgeable and patient. The pool goes up to 9 feet and I truly believe that the lessons in deep water helped me break my fear of water. I started off in beginner 1 being affraid to put my head in water. Then I went on to Beginner 2. And now in intermediate I can swim full distances, with a variety of strokes and I never would have imagined that my favorite thing to do would be to dive into 9 feet. It took 7 months of commitment but it was well worth it. Now I swim 2-3 times per week on my own. My instructors Alex and Malaki were amazing and I can’t express enough gratitude for their teaching. They have been such a blessing and instrumental in my love for the water.
I refer families to the swim program all of the time. My children are homeschooled, and participating in swim classes has been a great part of their physical health education. I'm so pleased with the amount of progress that both my children have made since starting swim classes last year.
Both my children have had Mr. Malachi since beginning swim classes, and he is a phenomenal instructor. He is very patient with them, and also gives the right balance of pushing them to try new things, while understanding when they are too nervous to try at the time. The lifeguards are very attentive, and as a Black Mother, it warms my heart to see so many black men work with young children in this impactful way. I truly feel that my children are safe and cared for every time we come to class.
As long as it is an option, we will continue to take classes at the YMCA.
My son's instructor was kind and took the extra time to give him the motivation and ability to learn or improve upon new skills. Great experience and my son has learned so many new skills in only 6 sessions. I am impressed.
I like the convenience of the Y to my home, the proximity of it to other fun businesses downtown, its friendly and professional staff, and the soothing waters of the pool. I just wish the Y was open longer on Sundays. Thank you.

Being a member of the Y as a scholarship recipient brings me joy, peace, and a sense of security, both financial and personal. I feel so welcome at the Y every time I’m there. The group exercise classes always challenge me. Whether I’m swimming, lifting weights, climbing, or doing yoga, the Y nourishes me, both inside and out!

Nice people! ( Staff, members )
My son is neurodivergent and is always on the go. Staff there is ALWAYS kind and makes a point to give salutations. Everyone has a welcoming smile and attitude. When I have foster placements, everyone is equally as enthusiastic- even when they were a little “extra”. I know when we go there, my kids are safe and valued. All kids need that in their lives.
I also love the artwork, both permanently installed and the rotating exhibitions. It’s wonderful to see important months like Black History Month being brilliantly depicted on the windows.
The vibes there are great, and I always recommend friends and other families to get a membership. The people there are so soft spoken to my spirited kids, the folks there are the GOOD in the neighborhood.
Tell your staff they are magnificent, and appreciated so much!
The facility is fantastic and the people are even better!
Love the pool, two or three times a week
Zumba class, water exercise class, salsa class,
The people are friendly, the locker rooms are clean, and the family pool is just right for kids.
I love the community feel of this center. I wish there was more opportunity or at least a space set aside for youth to play basketball. Outside of other (non basketball) activities taking up the gym, it’s over run by adult men so women, teenagers, and younger children have to play around the men. Everyone is nice, I’ve never had a problem but it would be nice to be able to practice basketball with my sons without the fear of being run over.
