Imho, the convenience of the YMCA AfterSchool Program, located within the Salem school buildings, is what's most helpful to Salem families. Parents who work full-time can drop their kiddos at school in the morning and they can go 2 work for the day without worrying about their children's after school activities. These kids don't have to get home after school is out to an empty house or be without supervision during the AfterSchool hours until parents get home from work, or between 2pm & 6pm. The parents can focus on their work all afternoon knowing their kids are safely taking part in the Y AfterSchool program right at their own school. Because the YMCA comes out to the School buildings, parents don't have to worry about transporting their kids after school is dismissed to their AfterSchool program location. Along with the benefits 2 parents, the program is fun for kids. It's a total win-win ;)

My child feels safe and happy there.
Appreciated having staff that helped with behavioral issues and having staff that were compassionate and understanding. Also appreciated having staff that understood mental health in general. Shout out to Z! She made us feel comfortable with leaving our kids in their hands.
Having different themes every week allows the children to be creative and adventurous.

Well maintained. Competent and friendly staff
Salem Y has a quiet, calming spin room located in the rear of the building. The Salem employees are helpful and pleasant. The clients are easy going . I am always greeted with a smile when I swipe in for my class.
My five year old loves it. She has never had a bad day at camp and is always so excited to go. Today when we picked her up she was crying - because she only has a couple days left of camp.
Convenient location, good group classes
I love how engaged the instructors are with the kids. I know they can be met with a lot of resistance from the littler kids, and most of the instructors I've interacted with go with it and have great strategies for engaging the kids.
I enjoyed that this camp was outside and took advantage of the opportunities at Forest River.
Counselors are amazing!!!!! We love it
I like that the program and activities keeps my daughter content and leaves her wanting to go back the next day for some more fun. Also, the staff are great with our young ones and it makes the place even better!

The Y is a wonderful place to meet people. I rated it a 9 because containers that would help organize things around the pool area that have been asked for but so far haven’t materialize. I’m not sure why this hasn’t happened. It would make the area around the pool so much safer. I feel like the older members of the Y family are overlooked.
I have seen an improvement in the younger greeters at the front dest which is so important to make the Salem a friendlier place.

My kids love the YMCA program. The staff that works with the kids are amazing. They are very patient and put their all into the kids. I feel safe with my kids attending the YMCA because of the staff. Chris and Justin are amazing and so friendly. They are great at what they do and they give the kids all of their attention. My daughter's attend the Vibe program and the summer program and they absolutely love it. I am thankful for the staff at the YMCA for making my kids after school and summer program magical. I would recommend the Salem YMCA to anyone. Ten out of ten hands down.
