The great staff1
Our kids are very happy in their preschool program and have learned so much. The staff has always been terrific.
Miss Nancy! Both our boys are learning so much from her. I love that she is such a expert and I know they are getting the most of our their lessons as well as trust her very much with their safety.
The teachers are amazing. My child is engaged and happy and I feel very connected to their daily.
Nice caring teachers and a lot of activities for the students to play and learn. My children like going to school here.
The time is great for me and the coaches are welcoming and knowledgable
Great Aquatic Director - Gina. Very organized, responsive, and supportive.
I love that my child gets quality time in the pool. I have heard other swim lessons have so many kids and barely any time with the instructor. I enjoy how not so chaotic and busy it seems to be during this time. My child has some sensory processing issues and the echo of the swim room made me nervous so a lot of noise plus splashing and getting ears wet was already going to be a lot. He seems to love coming now and Miss Nancy is excellent with him.
Great teacher
Ms. Nancy's instruction has been key to advancing our child's swimming skills. She is an amazing coach!
Great teachers! My son loves this! Thank you!!!
My son takes swimming lessons with Miss Nancy through the Y aquatics program and loves them. We also take advantage of open family swim to work on both his skills and comfort with the water. It has been a great experience. Living this close to the water, it’s an imperative for children to swim and learn water safety. I love that we have access to a good program so close to home.
On another note, I’ve been taking Pilates classes three times a week and have to report that Gina is amazing. She has so many regulars there is a built in sense of accountability, and it’s fun. While I’m in class, my son goes to the babysitting center and it is a lifesaver. I wouldn’t be able to attend the classes, or the Y at all, without this service and it has proven to be so important to my mental and physical well-being.
As to the babysitting club itself, I cannot sing its praises enough. He loves the mornings that he spends there. The staff has been wonderful and it is so comforting to know that my child is truly being cared for while I have some much needed self-care. By necessity the staff changes, but most regularly I’ve interacted with Josephine, Ellie, Cheyenne, and Chloe. They all bring something different to the room and I love watching my son’s face light up when I tell him he’s going to get to see any one of them. When Cheyenne learned that he has a speech delay, she offered to introduce his speech therapy tools into his play. This is only one example, but every experience I’ve had with these women has felt above and beyond.
Aside from the staff, the babysitting club has also offered up a community aspect that I hadn’t expected. As a stay at home parent, there was concern that my child wasn’t getting enough social interaction. At the YMCA, he’s been given the regular opportunity to engage with not only children his age, but those older and younger. The growth I’ve seen in him through these exchanges has been astounding. He’s shown kindness and empathy through play with the younger children, while learning patience and leadership from those a little older. On top of this, we’ve been able to build relationships with other local children and parents that is so important to both of our wellbeing.
A lesser, but still fantastic, benefit of the babysitting club is the exposure to toys and activities that I hadn’t known of or thought up on my own. They read new books to him, have a collection of dress up costumes for the children to play with, and a large selection of art supplies. He loves proudly showing me his projects when I pick him up. Gift ideas for him often come from suggestions the babysitting staff make regarding what he enjoys most while with them.
One of my few complaints about the babysitting program is that it isn’t advertised enough. I feel that this service is something that so many parents would appreciate and it alone makes the membership worthwhile.
My kid has fun l. That cannot be said about the swim experience at another ymca.
This is a great facility and the staff are just brilliant! Thank you for all you do.
This Y is friendly, clean, has great staff, and still an aura of history.

My daughter and family like the YMCA AfterSchool program. And would recommend it.
I absolutely LOVE the meditation room. I'm also a huge fan of Gina, who teaches several classes. She's very careful to explain the proper way of poses and exercises to avoid injury
Enjoyable place - enjoy Beth who teaches rowing on Saturday. She's a joy and fun to learn from.
The people who work there are so incredibly helpful and welcoming! The members who come to the Salem Y are also wonderful; I love going there, just wish parking was better.

Great staff!
