The Beverly Sterling Center YMCA IS GREAT FOR MANY REASONS,
The staff is always friendly and helpful. Every time I ask a staff member to show me how to use a machine they stop whatever they were doing and take the time to help me.
They have really nice, modern, very effective and fun workout equipment.
The whole place is clean. The locker room, the gym equipment, the sauna… everything is clean. No bad odors, or damp floors in the Men’s locker room.
Because of the 1st three attributes, this YMCA draws a pleasant non-threatening clientele.
This is important because as we age we want a ‘Safe’ non confrontational place to work out. I know a few guys my age that have left other gyms because of this.

The facility is being updated, there are many class choices, the front desk staff is friendly and welcoming,and the staff running the classes and trainers are professional, knowledgeable and helpful.
Sterling Woods Camp is top notch! My son has been attending since he was 4 or 5. He is now 9. From the Chipmunk days to the Sterling Woods, he loves camp! I can't say enough about how much camp has done to meet my child where he is at and help him. Last year, my son was having some difficulties identifying and expressing his emotions. We had several talks and then a meeting was scheduled. I was worried we would be asked to leave. Assistant Camp Director Kenzie, Inclusion Specialist Taylor and Director of Childcare & Education Operations Lorigan met with me to develop a plan to help him identify his emotions and a plan to process them in a productive, calming way. They provided him with things he could use in his hands to fidget with, created a theraputic tool that would help him show what he was feeling to inform his counselors, and created a flip book so he could pair the color of the emotion with an appropriate response that was calming to him. They also worked with his counselors so he had a point person. They provided me with the formal plan which I shared with his teachers and after school program when school started in September. I can't say enough about the camp family and the magic that is Camp Sterling Woods!

The one issue I've experienced is the parking lot issue... I feel like this year the 15 minute drop off window isn't enough time for the entire camp to be dropped off and picked up. I believe this is a safety issue with kids walking through the parking lot, we've seen people drive the wrong way through the parking lots and people not pay attention in the parking lots. I think if there was a wider gap to drop off/pick up it would ease the tension.
My granddaughter liked the pool activities and the friendships encouraged.
All is great. I’d skip the talent show, however, or break into manageable bite sized pieces. No parking, crowding, can’t see, acoustical problems because of the space. Was sweet to see the kids having fun but not outweighing the challenges.
My daughter loves camp chipmunk, and all her staff! She comes home with lots of stories about her day and never wants to take a day off or leave early.
Both my children love camp and the staff has been great!

My camper has loved learning new skills and showing them off every week at the gymnastics performance. He meets new friends and connects with counselors with lots to say about his fun activities at the end of each day.
My son is outside and moving his body all day long! He has made lots of friends and loves his counselors. From swimming to learning new games to creating cool art to challenging himself with the ropes course to collecting acorns on a nature walk, this kid comes home happy, tired and dirty every day. This is what summer is all about.
From my perspective, the people who run the camp are hard-working, kind and care for the kids. They are easy to communicate with and have always helped with any requests we’ve made. They make my kid feel seen and they make the day fun.
My only gripe is the new hours this year. The later dropoff makes things tough some mornings!
I would definitely recommend Sterling Woods to my friends for their kids. I often do! My daughter also loves Chipmunks and will be going to Sterling Woods next year. We ❤️ the Y.
The facilities are beautiful. There is a great variety of classes for all levels and interests. The hours are generous. The staff is helpful and genuinely nice.

My son and daughter love the YMCA Sterling Woods camp. Every day they get to participate in a variety of activities but more so they feel supported by the wonderful staff. Every single staff member we have had contact with has been so kind, attentive and full of energy - even on the hottest of days.
