The Livestrong program has been so beneficial to me. What a wonderful thing you guys offer.
Likes: plenty
Areas to improve: Men's locker room; more upright bikes; curved treadmills; more mat stretching area
Love all the class selections and amenities!
Pool and gym
I love the Livestrong program ....
I love the regularly scheduled classes that are available! They foster community and help to create an accountability group to maintain a healthy life.
I went for pickle ball. I live nearer to Hays Y. Met friends at Town Lake.
So very happy about the new weight equipment in the gym. Plus you do a great job supporting the community. It is a pleasure to go to the Y!
I love the deep water claases and Q is a great instructor.
Variety of programs for different levels of fitness and background -- like the Sat biking karaoke class (for those who enjoy biking but aren't interested or ready for a hard-core spin session) and Thurs night strength training for gender-nonconforming folks (huge plus, it's such a welcoming environment to get fit).
The swimming pool. The friendliness of all the staff who work there!
Zumba & Body Pump
Great facilities. Good programs. Good management.
Location.
I have been coming to the Y for 21 years. I love the atmosphere! The employees are always cheerful and helpful. It is always very clean. I do not have children but I love the children's area where I see kids playing and having fun. I prefer the Y over a regular gym because of all the programs for low income children. This is so important.
I use the weight machines, and do not take part in the various classes, but I believe that the variety of ways to stay in shape is what makes the Y such a hub of activity.
Carol Brady, age 82
The senior fitness classes & aqua cardio classes, & all the individual equipment.
Good 6 am yoga class and ping pong room
Friendly and professional. Many of them.
The pool, hot tub and changing areas are VERY CLEAN. I was delightfully surprised that lanes are open to swim in the evenings.
I love the Y and everything they offer!
Times of work
Everything! I love the variety of classes, and how as a beginner I always feel there is a place for me in the classes I've taken so far. The instructors are very good though several do not have headsets that work very well. I can only hear about 30% of the instructions given. The level of teacher is very good however and they seem to genuinely care about the students' experience. I enjoy the mini-events that take place in the lobby and I enjoy the diversity of Y offerings.
i like programs for seniors and I like the open welcoming nature of the Y to all
Love your weight lifting equipment.
I don’t really use any other services or programs other than that.
There is so much to love about the Y:
The range of options from active group classes to aqua yoga.
The sense of an inclusive community: I see old friends and have made new ones
The wide age range and abilities of members: thank you for being a place where people of differing abilities are a natural part of day to day activities
The helpful and pleasant front desk staff
The quality of instructors in group classes (Elizabeth in yoga-lates is amazing as is Vicki with aqua yoga)
I think the facility is wonderful and the variety of activities makes it very easy to participate.
I like how the Y offers activities and classes for all ages and abilities. My favorites are the kids sports, Zumba, yoga, spin classes, and kid swimming lessons. I also love the Y’s wonderful childcare. Our daughters enjoy the young kid’s Hang Time and the activities for the older kids. Love our time at the YMCA Townlake!!
Elizabeth Doss is a marvelous teacher in addition to her many other wonderful qualities...
personal trainers; pickle ball

I especially appreciate your Strong and Body Pump classes. Susan, who teaches Strong on Friday mornings, is especially wonderful.
One suggestion: I really wish the Y would have more sustainable practices: towels instead of paper towels to clean mats and things? Composting bins for paper towels? Sustainability is a social-justice issue (the economically under-privileged tend to bear the brunt of the effects of an unsustainable world), so the Y really should be on the cutting edge.
Thank you!
