We are doing the Raquet Rookies Summer Camp at the YMCA this year, 2026. And have great things to say about the whole experience. The director Janelle and co-staff Michelle could not have been nicer to us - there was an initial issue with us transferring from one camp to another, but both these ladies were super helpful in resolving that in no time! They truly are the backbone of UMLY summer camp. And to top it all, the counselors working with my son were all so knowledgeable and kind. We are doing the whole summer at the Y and are loving the experience! I would recommend the Y camps to anyone wanting sports development for their child and an enriching summer!

The facilities are great. The gym has good equipment. There are multiple pools for swimming. Great staff.

Friendly efficient staff. Have only used 50m pool.

I’m still a little new to it, but it is good to swim and cool down on a hot day, go upstairs and walk or use the resistance machines or play ball downstairs.

Everyone here is very encouraging& polite. What's not to like?

I'm wheelchair bound, as I have been disabled since I was blown up whilst leading my Marine Rifle Platoon through a mined area in 1967. After every trip to UMLY, I leave feeling much better in all ways than I did before I entered. The patrons & staff here are great contributors to my overall health.

I like the group exercise classes, although the 10:30 am Barre and Pilates classes are hard to get into. The space is too limited.

I love the group classes and I appreciate the Y's effort to provide pop ups and variety to keep things interesting. I filled out the survey about TRX classes - I had a great experience with TRX at a different gym and hope the Y can make this happen (as well as zumba). The instructors are all wonderful and put in a lot of effort! The facilities are clean, well-maintained, and have great equipment. I also greatly enjoyed the festival in the spring, even as an adult.

I'm not sure I'll be given the opportunity to provide feedback about opportunities for improvement in a following section so I'm including it here:
It would be really helpful if at least one scanner could be kept on its holder at the front desk so patrons can simply scan their card or phone independently of Y staff, who often need to speak to other patrons or are on the computer simultaneously. I totally understand that someone should be checking IDs as they get scanned, but it would really improve the traffic jams that take place, especially as it's extra busy these days with staff needing to hand out pool wrist bands.
Also, if the Y is ever looking to purchase new gym equipment, a vibration plate would be greatly appreciated!

There is something for everyone at any age and ability! The trainers are Great! The front desk is warm and friendly and helpful. Its a great gym to belong to! I just love the variety of group exercise classes offered! Something for everyone. Also at all abilities. They have silver sneaker classes for those that want and need these classes. So happy to be able to belong to this great gym!!! 💗

The chester county YMCA system is central to our family. We use the Oscar Lasko Y for afterschool care, gymnastics and youth ninja and esports. We use the airport road Y for summer camp and family pool. We use the UMLY for summer camp and whatever else we can find (we just started going there a couple weeks ago). Plus the indoor playgrounds at each Y and childwatch is ridiculously nice. Lily (YMCA employee) and her mom at Oscar Lasko know our daughters and adore them, and watch them often at childwatch. Lily (my daughter lily) went to her first day of camp this summer at the Airport road Y, and said "that counselor is wearing the shirt I signed last year!!!" Said counselor was so excited to see lily it was ridiculous. My children consider the Y's a second home. Oh, I forgot. Lily's reading teacher uses the Y lounges to tutor her over the summer. The staff is incredibly friendly and inclusive. I can't say enough nice things. The Y facilities are our third places. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
