Classes
I like the friendly staff and the low key vibe. I don’t like “slick” gyms.
Great place. One recent problem is that the room that the indoor pool is in is very cold. Two lifeguards told me it is always cold and they have neever had heat in there. When I pointed out the larg vents in the room they said that was ventilation for the pool chemicals. That didn't make sense.
My sons swam there for many years in grammar school. I don't remember it not having heat.
Plsase settle my mind on this. Did taht room ever have heat. And how much chemical is in that pool to warrant such a huge ventilation?
Thanks,
Pickleball. Some excellent fitness instructors, including but not limited to Amy Nelson and Tia Kilpatrick.
Best Qi Gong program in Sac!

Love the equipment, setup, and staff!
Clean, not crowded, friendly.
I love that it's easy to get into group fitness classes. Really enjoy them.
Management is quick to fix things. Very good group of members. Love their class schedule!
I am judging the Y based on several years of experiences in its fitness classes. I also appreciate the opportunities that it offers to our community's children.
However, just to be clear, I do not believe that the YMCA is in a good place at the moment. We need a much deeper bench of trainers and fitness instructors. This week, for the first time ever, I met someone who works in a management position at the Y--Karen Newton. She was incredibly kind and responsive! For the most part, though, Y management is completely invisible to me. I never see them.
Yes, I recommend the YMCA to friends, coworkers and, even, strangers all the time. But, unless management begins to quickly recruit and train more instructors, the Y will lose some of its members.
I enjoy the accessibility of the Central YMCA. I also find the clientele and staff to be generally friendly and thoughtful. Parking is an additional perk.
I just love all the various classes that are offered, as well as the instructors .
I think my Sacramento central does a fantastic job. Especially the aquatics. Im a 69 yo senior that took swim lessons last summer to improve my technique and was so inspired to see all this different age groups you instructors teach. You guys rock!
Everyone is helpful and friendly

Staff clean courts
Great facility and friendly people.
Friendly people
I truly appreciate the sense of community at the Y, and also the YMCA commitment to creating opportunity within the larger Sacramento community. I also specifically appreciate Mr. Hewitt's responsiveness to member concerns and willingness to consider and advocate for proposed changes and suggestions for improvement.
Regarding instructors, both Jen Keith and Tia Kilpatrick are phenomenal coaches who have helped me achieve and maintain my fitness goals. Both Jen and Kia create detailed class/session plans. These plans are very clear and oorganized, created to permit progression along a fitness path, and flexible enough to be achievable for students of at all levels. Both Jen and Tia are attentive during class as well, and provide individualized feedback and/or instruction as needed (while not bogging down the class flow!). They consistently give very specific examples of how to modify "up" or "down" to personalize your own experience within the class.
It is instructors such as Jen and Tia that keep me coming back!
It is okay to use my first name ONLY for promotional purposes. Thank you.
I love the pool
I really enjoy the Y. It is a lively, pleasant place where the community plays and exercises. Staff and members are friendly and polite, and it has tremendous variety of possible activities.
I really enjoy the aquatics classes...Especially Pat Wolfe and Angel's class...I plan to attend more classes in the very near future...I want to try the stretch and balance class for seniors...I always share my Arthritis Aquatics Class, with Pat Wolfe, with all my Doctor's...They are pleased and tell me to keep up the good work..

The arthritis water class is just what I was looking for - activity without increasing my bone-on-bone knee pain. And the leader, Pat, is super!
