First, Island Life's folks are the best!! Not re they very friendly and helpful; they are extremely knowledgeable about their products. Most impressive was their willingness to take the time (even when it ws getting close to closing time for the weekend) to help you understand what bike or bikes will work best for you; but also what options you should consider. There was no "high pressure" talk or pushing you to a particular brand or model of bike. I was extremely impressed by Tess and Chris the techs, and Steven the manager. All three were a joy to work with and made the experience a fun.
Second, shopping Island Life was more a "family fun outing" than your normal shopping experience with impersonal shop folks. Everyone greeted you with a smile and addressed you more as a friend than a unknown potential buyer. A deeply appreciated note is that Island Life gives a military discount on all products other than the bikes themself (which many seem to be on sale anyways). Although I haven't directly compared their service prices with other bike shops; I "feel" they are competitive and, more importantly, open and fair.
The bottom line: this is a great little bike shop and the place to go on a very rainy day. (also being located next door to an ice cream shop and French bakery is not a bad combination of local shops to spend some time).

We had a fantastic experience at Island Life Bike Shop! From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. What really stood out was their ability to relate to us as parents of young children and take the time to help us find the perfect bike for our three-year-old daughter.
They patiently answered all our questions about age-appropriate bikes, sizing, and what would be the best fit for her. We never felt rushed or pressured, and it was clear they genuinely cared about helping us make the right decision.
The shop itself was great, and we especially appreciated learning about their trade-in program, which is a huge plus for families with growing kids who will eventually need larger bikes.
Overall, outstanding customer service, a friendly atmosphere, and a knowledgeable staff who clearly take pride in what they do. It’s refreshing to find a local bike shop that makes the entire family feel welcome. We highly recommend Island Life Bike Shop, especially to families shopping for their children’s bikes!
