I love the different options that are offered to workout. The yoga instructors are wonderful, however, who ever plans the schedule should join us for a yoga session. Maybe then, they will realize how awful it is to have the loudest class (Zumba) right above the quietest one. It definitely does not make the experience as enjoyable as it could be..
Today was my daughter’s very first swim lesson class ever. She just turned 4 last week and has been looking forward to tonight since registration last Wednesday.
After a long day (and a head cold that’s trying to take me out) I accidentally brought her to the Mel korum branch when we were supposed to go to the Gordon family. I didn’t realize it until teachers came to collect the kids and saw she wasn’t on any of the lists. My heart immediately sank…she was going to be absolutely heartbroken if I told her she didn’t get to swim tonight. She’s been talking about it (and telling everyone else all about it) for almost a week now. I did not catch the older gentleman’s name at the desk in the office but he was very friendly and understanding and when he started telling me there was no preschool 1 class to slip her into, a guy (Matthew, I’m pretty sure)
didn’t even hesitate to offer to get in and teach her for this one class so she didn’t have to miss out and leave heartbroken.
Not only was I over the moon with gratitude for both of them, but Matthew was phenomenal with her. Like I said, this was her very first lesson and she was nervous about not knowing the teacher or knowing what to expect and he was so sweet and excited and made it so much fun for her - and he didn’t even have to.
I can’t explain how much that meant to both of us! It gave our night a completely different ending when my forgetfulness could have ruined it. But it also gave the beginning of her swim lesson experience the absolute best start. We just left the class 20 minutes ago and she hasn’t stopped talking about “the best swim class and nicest swim coach ever!”
I truly can’t tell you how much the whole experience meant to me. I will never forget it ❤️
Facility is clean and staff is very helpful! I've never felt so excited to try and get fit. I have been morbidly obese for over 15 yrs or more and feel comfortable to get started instead of feeling judged.
The atmosphere and variety of exercise and clean place
The staff was friendly. They recommended the free membership trial to my family member. We were also able to recovery my sister's broken necklace from the lap pool thanks to your helpful pool staff.
Staff seem well qualified to teach. Tested each kid at the beginning to see what the know. My granddaughter enjoyed the lessons.
I want to specifically call out Leighton that works in the rec room. He has been incredible working with the youth the come through there. Every time I am in there with my kids or when he is playing games with my son, he is friendly, respectful, fun, and overall AWESOME!!
Please let him know how much it means to have someone in there genuinely kind and fun to the youth in there! Thank you Leighton!!!

I do exercise in the water, the life guards are friendly and helpful. I am 60 with health conditions and always feel safe and looked after. The lifeguards constantly rotate around and are always on the lookout. The pool is clean and beautiful at all times. The children are always kept in check. The locker rooms are always cleaned and maintained and offer privacy. This is the nicest ymca I have ever been to, I feel lucky to get to be a part of it.

The teachers are very nice, very patient, and their teaching methods are easy to follow. I never been in the water before, but with my second lesson I already started swimming.
Consistency on the lessons and evaluation to move up levels.
My kids love swim lessons at the Y! I’m so thankful that the instructors are so understanding of my special needs preschooler & they let me join lessons with him, which makes it easier for him & staff. My daughter moved up to swim 4 within 3 quarters & she loves it! We highly recommend the Y Mel Korum to our friends & family!! :)
The teachers are very sweet and involved with each child. My daughter was previously scared of water and in just the first class she was dunking her head under and practicing swimming.
Ms Lorita has been fantastic and the life guards are so attentive.
