Love the friendly people. Love how clean and available all the equipment is. I do wish the registration for kids classes was a little more user friendly and easier to guarantee classes but been a member for over a decade not going anywhere.

We have really enjoyed going to the Mel Korum YMCA. I initially only purchased the membership for my child so that he could attend swim lessons, but I have recently purchased a membership for myself as well. My only frustrations are that there are very limited hours for the kids free-swim time (it starts very late in the afternoon on weekdays--sometime between 6 and 7pm), so we are not able to go swimming very often. We wish that one of the swimming pools was available for kids free-swim time after school (4 pm.. or even later, but earlier than it is now because right now it is open too late for us to use it). We also wish that the pool table pool sticks were in better condition. My son loves getting to play pool. We often are not able to because the game room is typically very busy (it looks like it might be used for an afterschool program?), and there is no tip on the end of the one pool stick which makes it difficult to play. Maybe additional equipment is stored at the front to be checked out by people who will actually take care of it? I will have to ask, but if not, it would be a nice idea. The boys beginner gymnastics has also been a little frustrating. I see the girls groups getting so much practice in, whereas the boy group just quickly cycles through the skills with almost no practice time. How is my child supposed to advance like this? We had attended at least 3 sessions (not days but the several week-long sessions), but have taken a break as a result of feeling frustrated. The only other things I would add are that we would love the opportunity to sign up for a second swim lesson day (after everyone had gotten their first sign-up round opportunity) because we LOVE swim lessons and the more the merrier! We would also really love a kids martial arts option after school. We have really enjoyed the YMCA, and I would absolutely recommend it. These requests that I mentioned are the changes that would make it feel perfect for us.

Every part of the YMCA is clean and there are hand sanitizers and wipes everywhere.

I checked out other gyms before joining and there was no comparison in features offered
a place to walk that is out of the weather.
The amount of class options to explore with our littles to see what they are interested in. I like at this young of an age it’s not competitive but reporting the sport or art.
I feel registration is always stressful and classes fill up in a matter of minutes.

I enjoy the friendly staff and atmosphere at the Mel Korum Family YMCA. I would recommend it to friends and family. I am very positive about the YMCA.
One thing that is very aggravating, but I don't know how it can be fixed: many times I see people sitting on the weight machines texting or reading their text messages. I had done 3 sets of 20 reps each on one machine, cleaned it, went to another machine and the person was still texting and holding up the machine I wanted. This happens frequently. I know some people may have a fitness app but that should be only a few key strokes to set.

The pool
Everyone is very friendly and approachable. I really like the indoor track, especially in our part of the country so you never have an excuse based on weather. ;)
We like everything, lots of activities for children. But was disappointed to find out that there is a charge for the nursery. We have a family membership to the YMCA, but I can't leave my child in the nursery while I'm in the gym, it's very inconvenient.
