My son been going to the Y camp for the last 5 years. I like the predictability of the schedule and the early drop off and late pick-up times which make it feasible for a working parent to utilize.
My son loves the activities and the camp time. He loves the pool and the water sports.
The counselors are always friendly and helpful to us but support the kiddos in safety and growth.

Socializing for the kiddos
Our five year old daughter is an only child and this day camp has kept her mind and body active throughout the day. She has made new friends and it’s even helped improve her speech clarity/sentence structure as she’s surrounded by kids her age and up vs when she was in preschool with 3,4 and only some other 5 year olds. This camp is helping her prepare for kindergarten in the fall with the similar schedule and encouraging independence. We couldn’t be happier! All the staff are so kind and helpful as well, thanks YMCA camper staff! 😊
I liked having caring staff who got things under their control. I will send my kids again and recommend this camp to others. I was wondering if Gordon Y could have a preschool program!
However, I wished there was a little bit more organized communication from the registration to advise what to expect in the Itty Bitty camp. From my experience in other camps, it was helpful to pay attention and remember when I got a few lines of brief information at the registration web page (day-to-day, Friday being a swim day, etc.) and a detailed message 1-2 weeks before the starting date with the bullet points. With the teams at Gordon Y, I’m sure this can be achieved easily.

Weights and cardio. I would like people talking on the phone go somewhere other than on the track, weight room and cardio machines. Sometimes they are talking so loud. People wearing flip flops or shower shoes lifting weights and dropping weights on the ground. The gym I use to belong to had signs everywhere, respect others take your call outside or the sitting area.
Counselors are amazing!! Activities keep my daughter engaged the entire session.
