I loved the teachers and the personal approach which is the most important. I think however it was hard in the transitions, very noisy from the ouside also the floor is very soft which is good in yin but a bit too soft for hatha yoga I think.
The dressing room was very very small and there was nowhere to hang out and communicate.
But once again your teachers are wonderful!!!
Reception, Location,of course instructor
Each class is different, the variation of instructors, lots of space in the city center, the views are great from the sea center, the people behind the desk are always friendly and welcoming.
I've found that the Hatha instructors that I've had at the studio on Broadway haven't been very innovative. Theyve seemed scripted and sometimes even seemed bored. One instructor kept returning again and again to runners lunges, and when she offered an alternative pose, she left us in it for far too long as she moved on with only part of the class in more advanced poses...as if she had forgotten. I've switched to try out a class at the Granville Island studio (Jolene) and have found that she seems a very much more competent instructor who can accommodate various skill levels.
The teachers are great and the focus in on personal practice and development. The range of classes and the different paces on offer are great
Facilities are great, staff are very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. As is always with any centrally located program cost is definitely an issue. As a student, it is difficult to sustain - although I understand the cost of operating a business especially on west 4th is high! I'm not sure what the solution would be! It isn't your fault i'm broke :)
The instructors have been fantastic so far! Thanks!
The instructors are excellent, the staff are friendly and there are a variety of classes to choose from.,
Love that you have the mat, and all the props I may need... so I can just show up. I'm a fairly new member, but I've enjoyed all my classes with all the instructors I've had so far. I also love your location... Granville Island is steeped in inspiration for me. And the view!
I usually don't give feedback anymore as I feel it is totally ignored. However, the state of the studio for the 07:00hrs class is horrid. Janet is the only instructor who cleans the bathroom, empties the garbage, but the oversized beattles, ants, bugs, filthy mats (other than thothe mornings when the floor has been cleaned), is appallingly. This morning there was a meter of hair on one mat, pieces of orange on another, and tissue.
Further, now that yogis are Permitted to arrive on late for class, and may leave en mass prior to shevasena, something that is entirely disruptive and disrespectful to those who actually attend the entire class, means their props are not put away, mats are not cleaned, and garbage is not thrown away. Do these yogis and yoginis have their flights wait for them, do they get to jump off early, what about their employment? Why are they allowed to be disrespectful to those who follow the protocol and are responsible to the studio and their fellow students? What am I missing? Is this how we teach our rich children to learn entitlement in Point Grey?
As I said, Janet cleans, but otherwise, the instructors JUST instruct, sit in easy pose with their eyes closed making sure they're not bothered while regular members set up and dismantle Irène's yoga station, help out new members, tell them where the bathroom is, tell them to ask staff AFTER class to sign waiver forms...
I don't know, I seem to recall there was a time that you could actually speak to the instructor prior to class and their function was more than to unlock the door. Again, usually Janet stays up front, and she does pass out waivers, but I honestly have no idea why there are instructions regarding Irène 's setup for staff, other than don't throw her mat out. They don't lift a finge.
It feels like we're third class citizens at 07:00hrs. At least now there seem to be two staff on when class lets out so people can ask their questions as poor Tiffany was always so pressured. Strange, she's gone, now there's two staff.
Please have the evening shift clean then mats, garbage, bathroom etc, as most studios I've been employed at have done. Alternatively have staff there in the a.m. to clean, help new folk out especially during group-ons and when waivers should be signed BEFORE class, when they do some good, elicit assistance from instructors to to set Irène up. Members really shouldn't be behind your counter and in a back room collecting chairs.
Please confirm whether this long suggestion was even actually read. I do apologize for its length.
Sincerely, First name removed
Calm atmosphere, good instruction. The subs aren't always as good.
I was surprised by the number of people in class. The instructor didn't once check people's postures or form. I saw many people doing "frog as she called it" totally wrong in ways that can hurt your back. It looks just like a money making machine and not a yoga studio. Music was fun though
The location, the vibe, the view, the teachers!
Studio is very crowded, mats only an inch or two from eahother. Too crowded for my liking.
It is a great location but it would be better if it had some windows/ more natural light.
teacher was great. I have been doing yoga for a while and this class felt just like the first... the difficulty and the benefits.
Peter's class on Sunday is a highlight of the week for me. His energy is positive and uplifting. His class is just the right mix of mental and physical.
I was visiting Vancouver for the first time last week, so I got a new membership. The lady who helped me at the front desk was extremely nice, and even went out of her way to write me a list of recommendations for things to do while I was in town. I've never felt so welcomed at a yoga studio before and her kindness was deeply appreciated!
Always courteous and responsive. No snubbing ever. And I always feel like anyone is welcome.
I love the combination of local retail and that you support our local artists, innovative minds and hearts and local yogis creations and a beautiful sacred space to practice in that feels like home. The space is bright and cozy. The location is beautiful too with easy parking options. And certainly not last, your staff is always kind gracious and with a smile on their face and in their hearts. Thank you. Namaste.
Bernie and Diana and Ayse are fab!!
Everything about Semperviva is exceptional: the staff, instructors, merchandise are all top quality. From the moment you walk thru the door until you leave, you are made to feel welcome and you know you are going to have a great yoga practice! Thank you to everyone at Semperviva🙏
cleanliness and quantity of the equipment - blankets, bolsters, boxes, straps, etc.
Lovely staff, beautiful location. Fabulous teachers!
More bathrooms. Can't wait til carpet is ripped out.
Black out blinds for PowerPoint. Would keep room cooler too.
Otherwise great venue.
great staff
They were kind and let me have an extension on my pass because I had been away from yoga after having a baby.
Love the variety of Kundalini instructors - a delightful mix!!!!
Classes are too crowded. You could go to a registration system like many other studios.
Great hatha classes, lovely studios and instructors
