Love the gym equipment. Always a great workout
great instructors
Exercising on the treadmill and several nautilus exercises are extremely helpful for my bad back. I can get a workout close to home and supporting the Y, supports the community.

People are so friendly!!
The people that work there are great. I can walk to the Y and I find it very convenient with a good variety of activities to meet all needs.
I’ve been a long time family member and actual employee of the YMCA. I enjoy using the fitness center and the pool especially when there are aquatic exercise classes that I can attend.
Unfortunately, lately the fitness center has turned into a wrestling ring and the profanity is off the charts and I teach High School students so nothing surprises me. But last week I witnessed a very scary moment when two young men began to wrestle. One was thrown to the ground smacking his head and breaking his chain. I was honestly worried and expressed by concern at the front desk didn’t see a staff member but was told next time find the staff member before telling the front desk. Today, the same thing happened and Alex was awesome and nipped the incident in the bud. His professionalism, concern and tact was above and beyond. However, after Alex walked away the young man came at me and told me that he had his “own vocabulary “ and will continue to use it when he wants.
That being said, I highly recommend the YMCA and its programs, but just be aware that everyone is not on board the same way when it comes to tackling problems. Please give Alex my heartfelt thanks .. He truly is an example of what the Y stands for and it’s people like him and Reubens in the aquatics program that make me stay

The staff is very helpful & friendly. There is also a wide variety of ways to exercise!
So much variety for all levels.
I very much like the scheduled classes, the instructors, the staff, and the drop-in pickleball sessions at the Melrose and Saugus Ys. The men’s locker room in Melrose is decrepit and is sorely in need of renovations!
I participate in Courtney’s T, Th Total Body Strength. This morning for instance, I have been having lower back pain for @4 days. I thought about not going to class, but I am so glad I did!! Core strengthening and other exercises really helped me stretch out my lower back. I can already tell, less than two hours later that it was the best thing I could have done for myself today.

Classes. I am still working on finding Classes that work best with my injuries.
