I have been able to exercise in warm water and invite my grandchildren to swim. I have grandchildren come from California, Indiana and potential from East Jordan Michigan and Bavaria Germany.

I love the swimming and the new dressing rooms. I like walking on the track in cold or rainy weather .

Speaking from Pre-pandemic times: I appreciated the great classes offered from Yoga options to Swimming, to Senior Stretch all taught by wonderful, qualified teachers. I've also made many dear, now close friends in some of these classes. The Y is a warm, friendly, safe place to work out. I love it and can't wait to get back there on a regular basis again.

When the Farmington Y was able to re-open the pool in September of 2020 after the COVID restrictions they made great efforts to ensure their members safety. The friendly and efficient staff made sure each swimmer had a lane , entered and exited in the same way and had an opportunity to sign up for another time to swim in a very organized manner. Once the Y realized more swim times were needed they offered more options to swim. I knew it was important for my physical health to swim but I never realized how much my mental health benefited from swimming and being surrounded by the great family YMCA atmosphere! The Y took the time during the pandemic to update the locker rooms and gradually opened them to the members. These improvements are great and a welcome bit of normalcy.
I have been a Y member since I was a kid in Green Bay, Wi. In 1983 I moved to the metro Detroit area for my job. I did not know anyone in the area. I had "health club" right next to my office. I went to check it out but it had no lap pool and a very superficial atmosphere. I joined the Birmingham Y and immediately made new friends of all ages. Once I moved to Farmington I joined Farmington Family Y where I have been a member since 1988.

Very safe family friendly community activity place for the mind and body

Safe COVID procedures are followed, and pool has reasonable hours for reserving lanes. I don't use it, but I do see a lot of people taking swim lessons, which I have recommended to a friend to sign up for. The new locker rooms are nice EXCEPT that the new lockers are now too shallow to fit my swim bag into!!! At least there is room up above on top of the lockers to put it while I swim..

Classes geared to the Senior level. Convenient times of classes. Excellent Silver Sneakers instructors. Have made friends at the classes.

I've been a member for almost two decades. Most recently, the changes to the facility have been very nice, and I can't wait until it's all finished. I'm at the Wellness Center three times a week, ever since the re-opening in September. Attendance is still poor as some remain spooked by COVID-19, and that's a disappointment. Looking forward to seeing my Y friends.
