The friendship and caring.
I love how convenient it is for me to just drop in and take a class and keep going. I love Kelli's Night Club Cardio class. My home Y is Tellepsen in which I visit daily to take body pump, TRX, CSI, combat and ncc. Overall it is a pleasant visit at your Foster location. Keep up the great work.
P.S. PLEASE BRING TABATA BACK :)
Andrew Hoffart is such an awesome trainer!!!!
Excellent line-up of programs for the entire family. Very supportive, no one is left out from the ages of 0 years to 99 years old!
I joined through the SilverSneakers invite that you all sent out this year 2019. My favorite program is the Shallow Water Exercise classes. I am very disappointed that the class will discontinue on September 2nd. I know this is an outdoor pool but in Houston the weather stays hot until October and I do not understand why our class cannot be extended. Otherwise I think the facility is clean and all staff are so friendly and helpful. I appreciate that I get a free membership through SilverSneakers which really helps my retirement budget. Since my favorite exercise is Shallow Water Exercise I will have to find another YMCA that has an indoor pool that have this class year round. I may come back next summer because the 34th Street location is just a mile from where I live and it is such a short drive. I am just now getting started with a consistent exercise program after having been inactive for 20 years. I may try the SilverSneakers classes that are offered once my strength is built up in more water aerobics classes at another YMCA.
The new updated equipment and facilities are amazing!
Variety of options, price and childcare
Offer an array of programs/classes. All appears fairly well organized and provide amicable
instructors.
The class I take (AOA) is wonderful, mainly due to John the instructor. Only complaint is that his class is not offered on Fri.
Other time is spent in gym with machines, 2/3 days a week.
Was very disappointed when water aerobics was moved to 11:30, interrupts entire day so had to pass on class. Hoping that next summer it can be offered at a more reasonable time.
Yoga and Kidwatch and Step classes. Outdoor Pool but more free swim time would be nice.
People friendly
Friendly staff, welcoming to all.
Gym is great and class hours and availability
The teachers are excellent. (Ralais, John and Eliot) They are well prepared and cognizant of the capabilities of class members; yet they encourage members to challenge themselves.
Good variety of classes and excellent equipment that’s well maintained
Classes
Love our Silver Sneakers classes!
Variety
It's a nice, clean YMCA with a good gym.
Fabulous instructors (John, Body Pump & Pilates) and an awesome friendly desk crew to greet you.
I love the Foster Y. It's a small, accessible facility, filled with all kinds and ages of people -- I see everything from seniors chatting in the lobby to sleeping babies in the nursery. So many types of classes are offered; the programs seem custom fit for the neighborhood and clientele. The pool is a nice feature in the summer. It's not luxurious, but the furniture and the pool itself are good quality and well-managed. The other I love about this Y is that it's busy! Lots of activity, every time of day. It's full of vitality.
Here's my only complaint, and it might not be a big issue with anyone else. I'm a big gym user, and lately, equipment is relocated and sections of an already-congested gym are blocked off for private training sessions. It seems elitist. I don't see this at the Downtown Y.
I enjoy attending the group exercise classes
The fact I can come and do exercises that are tailored for me. It gives me the outlet to keep moving and staying flexible.
I don't use the programs but would love to see a sauna installed for us old people. I have to drive to Memorial to use the one there.
Instructors are amazing! My favorites classes
are with Jordan, Tracey Page, Eliot, Amelie, and Morgan. We love all the sports for kids, but I do not like when the games are in others Y's, specially because I have three girls playing sports and it's complicate to me take my girls. Please, all the games need to be in our local YMCA.
Family centric
Low stress schedule, low commitment level, competitive without being too much for kids. Good balance of team building, physical Ed, and fun.
Great variety...plenty of times...pleasant and helpful personnel.
I like everything the YMCA has to offer and the staff is great!

programs are excellent
