Variety of options, price and childcare
Offer an array of programs/classes. All appears fairly well organized and provide amicable
instructors.
The class I take (AOA) is wonderful, mainly due to John the instructor. Only complaint is that his class is not offered on Fri.
Other time is spent in gym with machines, 2/3 days a week.
Was very disappointed when water aerobics was moved to 11:30, interrupts entire day so had to pass on class. Hoping that next summer it can be offered at a more reasonable time.
Yoga and Kidwatch and Step classes. Outdoor Pool but more free swim time would be nice.
People friendly
Friendly staff, welcoming to all.
Gym is great and class hours and availability
The teachers are excellent. (Ralais, John and Eliot) They are well prepared and cognizant of the capabilities of class members; yet they encourage members to challenge themselves.
Good variety of classes and excellent equipment that’s well maintained

Love our Silver Sneakers classes!
Variety
It's a nice, clean YMCA with a good gym.
Fabulous instructors (John, Body Pump & Pilates) and an awesome friendly desk crew to greet you.
I love the Foster Y. It's a small, accessible facility, filled with all kinds and ages of people -- I see everything from seniors chatting in the lobby to sleeping babies in the nursery. So many types of classes are offered; the programs seem custom fit for the neighborhood and clientele. The pool is a nice feature in the summer. It's not luxurious, but the furniture and the pool itself are good quality and well-managed. The other I love about this Y is that it's busy! Lots of activity, every time of day. It's full of vitality.
Here's my only complaint, and it might not be a big issue with anyone else. I'm a big gym user, and lately, equipment is relocated and sections of an already-congested gym are blocked off for private training sessions. It seems elitist. I don't see this at the Downtown Y.
I enjoy attending the group exercise classes
The fact I can come and do exercises that are tailored for me. It gives me the outlet to keep moving and staying flexible.
I don't use the programs but would love to see a sauna installed for us old people. I have to drive to Memorial to use the one there.
Instructors are amazing! My favorites classes
are with Jordan, Tracey Page, Eliot, Amelie, and Morgan. We love all the sports for kids, but I do not like when the games are in others Y's, specially because I have three girls playing sports and it's complicate to me take my girls. Please, all the games need to be in our local YMCA.
Family centric
Low stress schedule, low commitment level, competitive without being too much for kids. Good balance of team building, physical Ed, and fun.
Great variety...plenty of times...pleasant and helpful personnel.
I like everything the YMCA has to offer and the staff is great!
So far I love almost everything about the gym from the people to the equipment to the pool. The only thing I wanted to express in the way of concern: The fact that we cannot use the yoga studio to stretch in (when it is not in use). Is there any possibility of making a flexible policy on this? Some times that it is open to stretch in? The gym stretch space is tiny - and it is much nicer to stretch on a wood floor in a quiet open space. Not all of us want to take an entire yoga class to stretch . . . but most of us do understand the need to stretch at the end of working out. I understand not letting the younger generation tear around in there - but perhaps an adult-only policy could be developed in a limited fashion - with some agreement of leaving space as we found it? It is a beautiful space - what a shame not to be able to stretch there after a good work out in the equipment room. . . thank you for considering. I hope you can consider a flexible compromise policy for adults. Best.
Love the AOA classes!
The assortment of classes is great. The facility is neat and clean. Always activities going on for the youth. The staff is great and helpful.
Very nice facility with lots of wonderful programs. Your people there are very professional.
would be nice to have some boxing equipment (heavy bags, speed bags)
We have really enjoyed our son's swim lessons this summer. He has been in lessons almost all summer, mostly because every time his two-week session would end, he would tell me he wanted to sign up again for the next two-week session; this is from a kid who at the start of the summer had almost no desire to learn how to swim, and now he can't get enough of it! We've had four different swim coaches over the course of the summer and all have been excellent. They really understand how to interact with kids and have increased his swimming skills dramatically in a short amount of time. I've been impressed with the professionalism and dedication of all of the swim coaches and lifeguards. All in all, we are very happy to have joined the Y this year and will be sad to see the pool close in a few weeks, but will look forward to hopefully increasing our son's skills in the water even more next summer!

The new updated equipment and facilities are amazing!
