The activities.
I like the summer aqua aerobics class by instructor Shavon LeBlanc. In the winter the water is too cold for me.
My family recently started going back to the Fort Bend YMCA facility after the pandemic. We found new equipment. The facility is well maintained. However, they are closed on Sundays, the days that are most convenient to go the gym.
Overall the YMCA is a good place.
Pros: Active staff, Friendly, Knowledgeable, workout area is nice, bathrooms are clean.
Cons: Youth sports especially basketball needs better trained referees as to promote safe play for the kids. This spring basketball season in particular I had several kids on my team get hurt by excessively rough play that was allowed by untrained and undertrained referees. Totally unacceptable.
Mistie is an excellent instructor. We get a really good workout and she explains what we’re working on and why.
The instructors are excellent!
They cover all ages from children to "silvers." Also, everyone is friendly.
The cycling room is too cold at the Fort Bend YMCA. It is easy for people to set the thermostat at a very low temperature which is frequently done. I brought a thermometer one day to class and it read 65 F. Another time, it may have been in the 50's. I understand that some women may have hot flashes but this is ridiculous. The YMCA is also wasting money on having to spend for these extreme low temperatures in class. During RPM class, half the class has a fan on and the other regular people have the fan off. Plus, the doors are wide open to let the cold air out; otherwise, it would be more of a freezer setting inside the class. Please lock up the thermostat to avoid participants from tampering with it. My house is set at 78 during the summer with a ceiling fan. I don't mind perspiring.
