What do you like about your Y experience?

I had an opportunity to be a student under Ms. Monica Heiser, a Swim Coach. She is the best swim coach I ever had.

I am at a Beginner level in swimming, and I have a childhood incident of drowning. So I still fear for the deep ends. Ms.Heiser always cheered me for my small accomplishments in the same way that treated me like an adult student. She would observe me swimming and corrected me, gave me feedback on what to do and what not to do. She sent me youtube videos to improve my techniques. I can't wait to join my next session with Ms.Heiser.

A special thanks to all the lifeguards at the pool. They are always alert and approachable.

Tillie is the best thing that the Orakawa center YMCA has going for it. She’s awesome and amazing! She made my sone feel so comfortable and he just relaxed and followed her lead. She’s the best!!!

I was interested in using the machines in the gym and was given a personal plan in 2 visits which made it a gradual introduction which I really appreciated. Also I love using the app which gives instructions on each exercise on the plan.

The friendly smiles when you check in. Clean and fresh atmosphere - pleasant to work out and swim. Just started taking some classes and enjoyed the instruction.

What do you like about your Y experience?

Family parking near to the front of the gym would be amazing- the parking lot gets a bit crazy evenings and weekends. It’s dangerous for kiddos in strollers and toddlers learning to walk. Drivers get a bit agressive- and don’t always drive slowly. Having a row or two of parking dedicated to families would help parents get their children ( and all their stuff) safely into the y.

As a regular swimmer I appreciate that the Ys in Towson and on 33rd street make multiple lap lane available whenever possible. Also, keeping shower and changing facilities clean is critical to having a positive experience.

What a great environment, friendly instructors, clean facility, lot of activities, flexible schedule to attend everybody's needs. I've tried many other gyms but this one has been the first to check all my list.
