I really like the evening water classes that Candy teaches; I wish she could teach every night at 7.
My daughter loves the class.
The swim instructors at the Abingdon Y are very good and nice. If there is any problem with their schedule/or your schedule you can have a makeup swim date.
Great instructors and class offerings!
I like the people who work there, from the front desk staff to the trainers, and some of the management personnel I have met since being a member. All of the individuals above have treated me with respect. Since I’ve been a regular member over the last 2-3 years, my absence was noticed by a couple employees recently following some surgical procedures, and I received a telephone call from one to make sure I was alright. I also received another call when I hadn’t returned to working out around the time I had discussed this with them. This is rare occurrence in today’s world.
The water programs fit our needs. Staff very supportive and friendly and the other members in the classes are very friendly also.
Atmosphere
I love the kid pool and family swim hours. It is perfect for my little one.
so much to do and so many people to assist.
Convenient and fun for kids
All of the different equipment available. The trainers are great about showing me how to use the different machines if I need help. Yoga. Friendliness of staff at the desk.
I like the variety of programs that are available for seniors
Things are mostly good. One problem that is recurring is the bathing suit dryer in the mens locker room is not functioning. I think this has been the case for more than a week. Is a permanent solution planned?
My trainer, Mike Byrne, is outstanding
The Y is clients by so it's convenient to go. It has water aerobics class which are good for someone with arthritis. It has exercise machines of all types, something for everyone.
The kids love it. They are engaged the whole three hours, and love meeting all their new friends.
The class is fun
I like the instructor for the Monday night cardio dance. She's amazing and keeps me coming back weekly. I also like how I can go in and just get on the treadmill with no issues. My one complaint is that the machines take forever to get fixed and the front door has been broken for months now. Also, the basketball court is full of men, who I feel are always in the way of the children trying to shoot. They take up the whole court when they're grown and can easily find other gyms or courts.
The specially designed classes for seniors

Great environment and teachers. Great place for the whole family!
A home from home! Love it. This is the best investment that we have ever made. Period.
Evelyn was amazing with Nate! He learned so much in just a short amount of time. Loved the class and an signing him up for Level II.
I really like how the staff treat you and I like the workout. The pool is nice too, I'm not much of a swimmer.

We really enjoy the family atmosphere at the Y. Our whole family has activities that they can participate in at the Y, which is invaluable considering that our children range in ages from 7-23. We have recommended the Y to many of our friends and they have joined as well, making going to the gym more fun because you never know who you will run into. In addition to bringing old friends to the gym, we have made many new friends in our group fitness classes. Joining the Y was one of the best decisions that we have made for our family!
