I don’t like the guys who lift heavy weights and drop them and shake the gym. Feels like it very unnecessary.

I like the variety of activities. The Y has also fostered a love of learning and friendship. My kids love their teachers and look forward to going to school.

Classes

First and foremost, the folks that work at the West Chester Area YCMA on Airport Road are phenomenal. There are always smiles, and everyone is happy to help you out or spend a minute to amicably chat. This fosters an inclusive culture and everyone is a friend, and for those lifting weights, someone is never too far away to ask for a spot or some advice.

The facilities are clean and tidy; any broken equipment is clearly labeled as such, and doesn't spend much time down - repairs occur quickly, and there's always redundant equipment that can be used in the meantime.

The facilities also have all the equipment a gym-goer might ever need. The facility can get quite busy after the typical 9-5 office-hours, but at the right time, anyone can get the appropriate workout done in a succinct amount of time, without waiting for equipment (folks are often open to share or let other work in too).

There are lots of options to exercise and have fun doing it. There is everything from classes to free access to do it yourself exercise. Equipment, pools, gymnasiums and walking trail. You also consider my budget to give me a fee I can afford.

Friendly, clean and convenient.

I like the track for walking, and the machines for muscle toning. There are plenty of sanitizing bottles for use.
A negative is the size of the men’s locker room, and also need another paper towel dispenser in sink area that works well...

I have said it before, and I will continue to repeat it--the Y is like my extended family. From the people with whom I work-out, to the staff who keep the facility running, everyone is caring, interested, and supportive. That's a pretty good definition of family, and it is what keeps me coming back.
